Hi. My Mom has recently decided that she no longer wants to do chemo. She was diagnosed with colon cancer about 2 years ago. It later metastacised to her liver, and now it's beginning to show in her lungs. She has undergone 2 major surgeries, chemo, and radiation therapy, all of which have taken alot from her. She's worn out from all of these approaches and is searching for some other therapies that will not be so toxic and yield better results. The cancer is no longer in her colon, nor her liver, but now we have to adress it's presence in her lungs. I came on in hopes to find some suggestions from those of you going through your own battles with cancer, to find out if any of you know, have had experience with, heard of, etc. any successful alternative therapies, clinics, doctors, etc. for stage 4 colon cancer. My mother is an extraordinary woman. I'm not ready to lose her. She's truly a gift to this planet. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions and information you may have to give.
Many thanks,
A very hopeful son

You are breaking my heart, you are such a wonderful caring son! Reminds me how my daughter reacted to my cancer. I was fortunate to have responded to the first round of chemo...for both cancers (my second was unrelated breast, within 6 months of the end of the rectal treatment).
I DO know that my lifestyle has changed...my diet is full of antioxidents, fruits, vegies...all nice and bright in colors!
AND water, water, water...and most of all....LAUGHTER...everyday...
    Hugs to you AND mom

If your mom is willing to do some drastic diet changes you should put a shout out to Scouty, who was Stage IV and quit chemo and is now disease free... Scouty will send you the diet if you send an email through this site...

Well, you have definitely come to the right place. There are many on this site (with stage IV) who have completely changed their lifestyles including diet, exercise, and supplements. I believe this stuff really does work. My father has stage IV colon cancer and he is just about at that point where he has had enough and doesn't want chemo anymore. I'm trying to also get more info. on alternative treatments for my dad. It does take a lot of work, but I think it is so much better than constantly consuming toxic drugs. If you want some more info. on what we are trying with my dad, feel free to e-mail me.

    God bless,

Ya know the nicest thing...the changes are NOT really that drastic. I would Google: cancer prevention and nutrition, Alkaline diet and juicing and cancer prevention...That will be a good start for you! There are many people on site to help you...All the best - Maura

    Ahoy, Hopeful Son -

What a great son you are for seeking assistance like you are. My hat's off to you and your mom should be very proud.

Good info here from my colleagues. I have just started reading what appears to be a good book on alkaline pH (once you get past some of the info-mercial-type hype) by Robert Young, PhD You might want to check it out. Again, try to read thru the hype and just focus on the meat of the hypothesis and his suggested regime.

Attitude is 80% of the cure.

Keeping you both in my prayers.

    Hi Cis,

I agree with the others. I just wanted to add another book that is good to start with. One version also has recipies. Beating Cancer with Nutrition by Patrick Quinlan. It helped me understand some things early on and changed my diet. 2bhealed and Scouty are two people that just used diet, juicing, supplements. 2bhealed never was on chemo and is 4 years NED now. JADot is another one that uses supplements but went through folfox too. Good luck with your mom and HUGS to you both. Keep us informed on how she is doing.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone for your kind words and support. I'll look into the information and contacts you've given me. Mom is looking and feeling great! We're still dealing with the shock of the news. It's only been a few days since we found out about the spots in her lungs, but she's staying busy, trying to keep her head up. I will send on your hugs, hellos, and prayers. Thank you all again!

    Hi
I am so sorry things have turned out as they have, but you never know with this disease. I had been praying that your mom had 'turned a corner' and that things would begin to improve for her. I am heartened to read that you are not giving up on her yet! There is sth I would like to add except that you are both in my thoughts and prayers. Have a look at the website: www,kanglaite.com
