    Hi!
I had a liver resection a bit over 3 years ago. I had chemo following the operation which consisted of Camptosar (Irinotecan) and Xeloda. A while later 2 spots were found on my right lung that were subsequently removed. I did not have any chemo following that operation which was nearly 2 years ago.
I hope that helps. The good news is that he only has one small spot on the lung. I suppose they will do a PET scan and then if it is determined to be a met they will remove it.
    Best of luck,
    Susan.

    Hi,
My husband is Stage IV - diagnosed 10/04. He had chemo before surgery and continued for 6 months after surgery. His chemo was 5 FU with irinotecan and leucovorin and avastin. He had a colon and liver resection and a liver ablation done 12/04. If you go on the website www.upmccancerlivercenter.com it will give you great information about all the latest technology with liver cancer. I am not sure about the lung mets you asked about, but hope it helps you with the liver cancer.
    Take care.

erbitux and avastin for liver mets
    hi all
my fathers diagnosis is liver mets from colon cancer.we have been told he will have liver resection and then chemo of oxiplatin and 5fu .it seems on this site everyone else with this diagnosis seems to have avastin or erbitux.i know the uk are slow in getting these treatments but i am worried we are missing out on the best treatment.our oncologist was against avastin but i am worried this is due to resources.any help on this would be greatfully received

    many thanks

    Hi Danny,

I'm stage 3 colon and received the oxiplatin, 5fu and levecorin. Is it the UK or the doctor that is against the avastin? Can you go for a second opinion? I know the health system over there is different and hard to get some appts. My husbands great uncle live is Margate, England. The PET scan is a good idea too to see if you should be concerned about the lung spot. It will show if it is cancerous. Good luck and I'm sure others with chime in.

    Hi,
I had liver surgery to remove tumors mets from my rectal cancer..My surgeon did a pet scan to make sure the cancer had not metasized anywhere but my liver before he would do surgery. If it had been elsewhere he would not have done the liver resection for me. I am following up with 12 rounds of Folfox6 and the pump 46 hours of 5FU every 2 weeks. I am due for treatment #7 on August 16th. I will keep your father in my thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and recovery..Audrey

my daughter's colon cancer had spread to her liver and lungs when diagnosed. AFter FOLFOX + Avastin, she had the primary tumor removed at the same time she had a liver resection. Lung surgery was ruled out due to numerous spots on her lungs. Following the surgery, she went on FOLFIRI + Erbitux, which unfortunately was not helpful. She then went on XELOX + Avastin, which has been helpful thus far. The chemo regimen depends on many things, including what has/has not worked previously. If tumors can be resected, that appears to be the way to go. I wish you the best in your fight.
