edited March 2014 in Colorectal Cancer #1
Thursday and Friday I went to an action conference to discuss crc screening and ways to implement low cost programs in California...my colon was invited, but, of course, my MOUTH worked, too....
My fav question (they got tired of it) was 'WHY are we waiting till 50 to VALIDATE the possibility of crc?' And, the 2006 colondar was there...sb, you are quite the hunk! I thought I was getting nowhere, and then a doc came up to me and said "You are the ones that have the power to convince people to change the rules...because you have first hand experience"
WOW, was I shocked!
AND, I met a gal that had the SAME 'RARE' cancer I did...we compared notes...and another doc had had 3 cases...all women...I suggested doing a paper or a study or whatever, and gave him my card...so maybe there IS hope...
Hugs, Kathi

    Hi Kathi,

Me too. I would like to advocate early screening in PA. Maybe we can gather people in each state to start this. It should be nation wide. I was dx at 42. I wonder who we start with? Maybe the State reps in our area? If you find anything out, e-mail me. I'm good at pestering.

I will, Lisa...I am learning fast...one organization that seems to be strongly in favor of grassroots advocacy (in simple terms, US) is the Colorectal Cancer Coalition (C3). I have joined, after talking with one of the speakers at this conference...They are the ones that publish the Colondar that SpongeBob is in, too. They are a little edgier than ACS, but obviously by their name, DEVOTED to colorectal cancer...I will share the info when I get it....
