I could really use some help right now, I have so many questions!!! Can anyone tell me what your symptoms were before getting diagnosed with NHL/HL?? My body is doing some crazy things, and I am physically and emotionally drained!! :( Any information would be helpful. Thank you for your help in advance.

I was diagnosed with NHL 8 years ago but didn't have the "textbook" symptoms I learned about in medical school. My cancer was isolated to my leg, so the only real problems I noticed was severe bone pain, typically only when I hit it.

Folks with lymphoma can have a variety of symptoms including fevers, chills, nausea, vomiting, weight loss and night sweats. Or you can have no symptoms at all.

When were you diagnosed? What questions do you have?

I just completed my chemo for Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL), this an NHL form of lymphoma.
My syptoms were very obvious and were the reason they caught the cancer in it's early stages.
Symptoms:
- allot of pain in the area of the effected lymphnode, the doctor thought i might have apendicides.
- Night sweats, some times i had to change my clothes twice in one night because i would sweat so much (in winter - in wisconsin).
- very tired, i would get home eat dinner and fall asleep for 2 hours wake up for 2 hours then go to sleep for the night.

My specific type of lymphoma though strikes people under the age of 35 and usualy causes pain, this was the main reason i went to see the doctor.

by the way, the only way a lymphoma can be diagnosed is with a biopsy, nothing else can be conclusive.

good luck.

I was diagnosed in April of this year. I have stage 4b large cell nhl. I had crazy night sweats, 3 to 4 clothing changes per night. I had shortness of breath so bad I could not walk from the bathroom to the front door without stopping to rest. I had raging hot flashes during the day. It all was pretty strange. I had my third chemo today, if you have any more ?'s just let me know.

Hi. I'm 27, was diagnosed with HL in June of last year. Luckily caught in early stage. I'd had my third child exactly one year before, and unlike my other two, I dropped baby fat and then some - without problem. (Later to find out weight loss was one of the symptoms.) Main reason for investigation was severe "heartburn/acid reflux" but only after any alcohol intake. From several glasses to just one sip. I was given several different treatments for reflux, but I kept going back in, saying nothing was working. FINALLY I talked the doctor into a cat scan, and they found an 11cm tumor in my chest attached to my main lung and heart valve. Because of the severe chest pain side affect they were able to catch it in stage 1. However, due to the size of the tumor, I underwent pretty severe chemo treatment (Stanford 5) and radiation. Now, they tell me I'm in remission (as of 01/01/07) and I'm just taking it day by day. I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me further.
