unable to reply to your post, so thought I'd try it this way..
Subject: Re: Anyone have/had mets to lungs?
Message: You have to have confidence in your doctor, and continue to explore all avenues of treatment..watch out for the people who lurk and take advantage of your tendency to look for a magic bullet. Look for the science behind it, and the research..it's too early to make a decision tho, and Mark will respond..he is lucky to have you for a caretaker. Question, Question, Question..and keep posting. Bud

Hi Kathryn...I hope that is your correct name...my brain does not work so well.Firstly before I make an honest comment. Unbeknown to most here Jen and I have a firm belief in an ancient healing power called Reiki but on a scientific basis there is no proof that this form of healing works. For that very reason I have seldom proferred our beliefs to our friends here, although some have asked about it in the past in topics and I then open up a little.I wuld certainly not force those beliefs on anyone unless they chose to seek more information...and that would be free information.
I use this as an example because I have no proof apart from close friends testimonials that it works. So in reference to the topic you posted I would progress with caution.I absolutely without doubt agree with Buds post here. Look well into the pros and cons of such claims..especially when large sums of money are involved.
Over the years I have heard people debunking claims that acupuncture works yet from personal experience I believe it does.Close friends of mine do not ridicule my opinion but they are extremely skeptical of acupunture...yet...even some doctors swear by it. In point of fact I know that some nurses and doctors also use Reiki....they just do not make it public knowledge that they do.
Ok...."ripleys, believe it or not"...may well be my best advice.Endeavour to gain more information on the products people claim work before you part with your cash. Indeed we all look for a sure-cure....finding the one that does just that is pretty elusive with cancer I think at this point in time.
    cheers, Ross and Jen

Couldn't agree more when dealing with the beast. We become so desperate for a CURE any CURE that sometimes we can be taken for a ride. Shame on them that do this. BUT that said, I continued to follow traditional medicine's advice, but spiced it up with nutritional and seemingly "other worldly" stuff from China. This was my own personal choice, and I'm not going to get into what I did. Don't want to seem like I'm selling.
My point is, that I ENHANCED my traditional medical treatment, didn't REPLACE it. Caution, too, to what natural stuff I did. I would ask my onc, and if she said "Well, it won't hurt what I'm doing", then I went on.
One of the reasons I fought that one post was because it removed heavy metals from your body. Well, I was on Cisplatin, which includes Platinum (a heavy metal) to work. You see where I'm going.....
    Hugs,

I am not sure what type of counselor you were talking to, but I would recommend that you do not fork over that kind of cash. If Mark wants to eat macrobiotically, I think that is great and you can buy a book that tells you how to do it. I certainly am a big proponent of him changing his lifestyle. What I was recommending to you, however, was a N.D. who works with chemotherapy/cancer patients. Ideally it would be great for Mark to not have to do chemo. It is a scary proposition, but in his case, he is very advanced and inoperable at this point. Everyone's decision to do chemotherapy is their own. If it works great, if it does not and he feels it is wrecking his quality of life then he could always quit. I suggest you speak to Scouty about what she went through as she has gone on both routes and is now cancer free. I don't however, think you should fork over big bucks out of pocket to be told how to eat macrobiotically.
Did you ever get in touch with the person that Sponge Bob recommended?
I am a big advocate of going the natural route. I also get massagae, Reiki and Chinese medicine, and acupuncture, but I also had surgery to remove several tumors...one to my liver and two in my lungs.
I agree with what the lady said about the underlying cause and chemo not dealing with the underlying cause, but it could take Mark a while to figure out the "underlying cause". Meanwhile, I would try the chemo. Once he has made up his mind about a course of action, he should feel comfortable with it and go with it. I think it is important to feel that what you are doing is going to work!
    Take care,
    Susan.

As I read your message from "the counselor" a few things struck me. First, she writes just like my ND (Who is Korean and doesn't have perfect English. I didn't care, I just wanted her to help me get rid of my cancer, which so far, she did). I completely agree with the counselor's assessment of reversing the cancer comfort zone within Mark's body. GO ALKALINE and find someone like Susan recommends. When I chose to stop chemo and change my diet/lifesytle, it became my full time job!!!!!!!!!! I was over 2 hours into my morning routine before I was actually eating breakfast.

Secondly, I can't comment on the financials she mentions since it doesn't include what you get for the fees. For all I know, it could be a great deal.

You will never find clinical stats on natural diets/approaches until someone funds them (that is very expensive!!!!!!). There is a reason why the only stats that exist all involve pharmaceutical drugs, their companies pay for the studies. DUH!!!!!!!!

As long as there are the billions of $$$$$$$ to be made off of sickness, not every one cares about us. Money is what it is all about after all. I have almost have no idea who or what to believe anymore so my default always goes toward the most natural, pure sources of things.

Got your email, going out of town and will reply after the weekend.
