I just read your story under the reply to "petrified". I am just wondering if your tumor has been 4x2 since 2001 or 2002 and what your follow up is? Do you visit the oncologist every month? My father has nsclc and has finished his chemo with great results and he is on a clinical trial to keep the tumor either at the same size or smaller. I am wondering if there is anyone out there still living with a tumor that has stopped growing etc.. this sounds like your case might be this. I would be interested in what the doctor's say to you when you go to your follow up visits. Thanks in advance.

    Hi crot1998,
I was diagnosed with limited small cell lung cancer back on Oct 2001. My oncologist told me this type of cancer is inoperable. The only treatment was chemo and radiation. The teatment went on for 6 month and they through I beat it. But after 4 month the cancer have grown back and this time they told me it was incurable. If I did nothing I would be gone within a year, so I opted for a clinical trial treament my doctor recommend. That seem to do the trick. MY cancer began to shrink everytime I did a CT Scan every month. Once my treatment was over my doctor schedule a CT Scan every 6 month which show no movement everytime. Last years my doctor decided to schedule a CT Scan once a year. I see my doctor every 3 to 6 month and he always ask me how many miles I'm running this time and so far there no movement on the tumor since mid 2002 (knock on wood) The best they can do right now is monitor the tumor and if it decide to wake up I'll go back to chemo treatment again. So I live one day at a time and just enjoy life because life is short and you don't know whats going the happen in the future.

Hi there. Thanks for the response. What was your clinical trial? Was it a pill or chemo? Are you still taking anything now? My father too is on a clinical trial drug. He did 4 rounds of chemo which shrunk the tumor and now he just takes the clinical trial pill every day. He will be going for scans every 6 weeks. What was the size that your tumor stopped growing at? You are right, we need to live day to day.

    Hey Crot1998
I was taking a clinical trial drug called Vincristine Sulfate for small cell lung cancer and it was through an IV. I just had a chest xray last week and so far the tumor still the same size 4x2. I'm not taking anything now(whew)
So it's look like I'll be here another 6 month until my CT Scan.
It's great that the clinical trial drug is working for your dad. Hopefully when his treatment is over he can get back to a new normal life.

    Take care,

    Andy
