Hi,
I've been working with a breast center on a second opinion and found they offered a complete program of coordinating a multi-discplinary team of doctors for breast cancer treatment. Does anyone have any experience with a full-service breast center that coordinates with private practice doctors? If so, is it better or worse than finding and coordinating your own treatment?

When I was treated for my stage 3 IDC with 11 out of 21 positive nodes and hormonal negative so no treatments after chemo and radiation, Cancer Centre had team of doctors specializing in each of the treatments. I have to say that having them all under one roof made it easier to get answers and tests. I have to say that even though they said that radiation wouldn't give me that much of an increased survival rate that I thought I wanted any benefit if there was one since I was going to battle this thing. My cancer did not follow any criteria set out there and was agressive since finding first lump 6 months prior to finding second and dx'd.
I needed additional help from Pain Specialist and still see her now and then along with the GP. The cancer clinic is still my resource centre if I get in to trouble and need help. That alone has been very helpful.
I live in one of the best places for fighting any cancer let alone breast. Vancouver BC has a brand new research centre and has the best success rates for cancers in our country. I was just fortunate that I moved here after finding my first lump. A team of doctors got to be better than one and I found it to be very reassuring.
    Be good to yourself,
    Tara
