Hello everybody!! Haven't been on this site in a while but needed to come back today. Had a CAT scan 12/21 and didn't find out the results until today. The doctor said there were a few more nodules detected in my lungs and this was after I did 6 treatments of Xeloda, Avastin, Eloxatin, 5FU and the other drug that starts with an "o". I just lost it. The doctor said he wants to start me on something else. I was already too upset to even think straight. I remember him saying the nodules are so small, they can't even do a biopsy. My white count is down always so I have to take those shots of aricept. Next week I'm suppose to go back to start the new chemo. To top this off, my husband was diagnosed with throat cancer and he's taking chemo twice a week and radiation 5 days. He had the feeding tube placed a week ago and is gaining weight!!! The tube was done as a precaution if his throat gets too sore where he can't swallow. The same day he had it done, I came home and he was eating chips and drinking juice. Your prayers will greatly be appreciated cause I know prayer is free and it works before anything else.

    Hi 122456,(I'm guessing birthday Dec 24, 1956?)
Sounds like you have a lot going on right now. I guess my question to you is how badly do you want to win this fight? Real bad? Then here is my suggestion to you...take charge of things. You realize that the chemo knocks your counts low, so why don't you also try to help yourself with nutrition as well? You should e-mail 2bhealed (Emily) from this site, and pick her brain about how to tackle this beast from that angle. I'm NOT saying to forego your meds, chemo, etc, I'm simply saying to increase your chances by enhancing your diet. Scouty (Lisa) on this site can tell you from personal first hand experience how her situation changed.

And when you need a pep talk, you just find me...I'm good at it! Failure is not an option here. We all have our "wimpy" moments, but overall, we're all a bunch of soldiers prepared to give it all we have, and then drag that last ounce from the tips of our toes to get through this.

And remind that hubby of yours to keep up his chin, too. You both are in my thoughts and prayers, and being a stage 4 survivor for over 4 yrs now, I'm beginning to feel like I have a direct connection with the "big guy."

    All my best,
    Stacy

Oh dear, you are doing it tough at this time...so sorry to hear that.Having to deal with this yourself and now your hubby as well is just horrible. Jen and I send our prayers and best wishes to you both. I am up for a CT on tuesday next week and even tho I am NED right now the thought of them finding something is still always there.

    Woof!

Talk about a full plate. Stacy & Nanuk hot the nail on the head. Encouraging story re: throat cancer - I had a friend who recently beat fairly advanced throat cancer with chemo and radiation.

Hang in there and know we're all behind you.

Keeping you and your husband in my prayers.

Hi, I just registered, colon cancer remission three years, I am a very shy person and get my feelings hurt easily. Please be patient with me, as this is my first reply. Here goes: I will add 122456 to my list, to pray for; to ask GOD to give both of you the strength to keep going, as this sounds like a beautiful marriage you have. I will be thinking of you.
