Hi all. It has been a while since writing. My surgery has been moved up. I will be having surgery at Johns Hopkins for rectal tumor. I know I have a good surgeon but I am nervous nonetheless. Jana, thanks for all your surgery recommendations. I will post in a couple of weeks and give you an update.
Has anyone here tried the macrobiotic approach? Been to any courses at the Kushi institute? I am thinking about going to one at the center (Denny Wexner) in Philadelphia.

You are welcome!! Try to get all your things prepared... and then relax. you have a good surgeon and a good family - try some meditation and deep breathing.

We are always here if you have any questions.

Macrobiotic? Woe!! I like all the bad food, I have enough trouble eating healthy and avoiding yummy sugar. My aunt is macrobiotic, and when she had me over for dinner, I didn't like it much. But hey, whatever helps you sleep at night and feel like you are doing all you can.

Be well and heal fast. jana

    Claudia,
Wishing for you a speedy recovery. I asked my surgeon if I could bring a cd in to listen to with head phones during surgery. I highly recommend this.
Can't help you with the macrobiotic diet.
