I'm in the hospital for three more days getting another chemotherapy infusion, and this hospital (Northside in Atlanta) is already taking patients from the gulf states. They are actually placing patients on the oncology floor, I guess because there are just so many affected people. I know it has nothing to do with colon cancer, I'm just amazed by the enormity of it all. I guess that cancer patients can't donate blood. It's really horrible that entire cities have been washed away. It's really a lot to comprehend.

I don't think we have even begun to realize the enormity of this disaster. My heart hurts for all of the many people affected.

I hope your chemo continues to go well.

I just returned from MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and I couldn't believe how many Louisianna cars I saw. There were NO hotels rooms to be had anywhere. Now I hear they are shuttling in thousands to the Astro Dome in Houston for shelter. Incredible disaster. My heart goes out to all those who have lost everything.

I live in Houston. The hospital I am based at, Memorial Hermann, got about 200 patients from the flood areas in LA. It is truely terrible. They moved the refugees from the stadium in New Orleans to the stadium in Houston. My heart goes out to all those affected by the floods.

I heard a great idea on the radio today... I will pass it along. A woman called a border town hotel near New Orleans and asked to pay for a few rooms for a family that had lost their home. If many of us do that it can help those who have lost soooo much. I am going to call tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing well. jana

I think it is great that someone brought this up. It makes me feel so grateful to have all of the things I have, and like cancer it makes us realize that we can loose everything virtually overnight. I grew up in Houston, and my mothers side of the family are all from Louisiana. My brother attended Tulane University......This whole thing really helps me to put things into perspective, what is important and what is not.
I never thought I would be grateful just to be able to have a place to go to the bathroom! or to be able to drink a glass of water....

The tragedy of the hurricane kinda puts a lot of us on notice..especially about trivial things. Not that I am saying our cancers are trivial...just kinda makes us realise that we are all human and susceptible to all kinds of trauma.
Many here in oz are very saddened by it all.

Hope you get thru your chemo without too many side effects Rodney.cheers with our luv, Ross n Jen
