Hello everyone, I have not been here in a long time....Jesper, my brother (I don't know if anyone remembers him) has not been able to beat this small cell in the colon.... diagnosed in Jan 2005... Drs. tells us there is nothing more than can do.It has spread all over, kidney shows cancer cells in urine, liver shows multi masses, right leg in bone, etc.... Does anyone know how Vitas Hospice Care is????? Jesper tells me he wants to go in a hospital with hospice rather than come home. He is in the hospital at this time but they will be releasing him either Tues or Wed....I really need some sort of input.

Thank you,
Maria

    Hi Maria,

I am so very sorry about your brother's condition. I know this is very difficult for you. I know nothing about Vitas Hospice Care, where do you live? Has your doctor recommended a hospice care? There should be some assistance at your hospital regarding hospice.

Bless you and please know that your family will be in my prayers.

    Marie,

Hello!! I am so sorry to hear the news about your brother!!!! It is like the bottom falling out with nothing there to catch you. I don't know about the hospice organization in your State but I do know that the hospice org. if it is at all like ours - They are SUPER people and a God send!!! When the Dr. told my husband Bob that he should start hospice care he was resistant and he didn't think that he was ready for that. Bob was willing to meet with them and they just stopped by to chack on him and talk. He didn't realize it at first but that is when they started. They were the most caring and loving people. They let him continue to make the decisions as to what he thought he needed. They listened and talked ot him. They were excellent with me as well!!! They kept Bob confortable and functioning as he worked up until the week before he died.

Talk to the hospital social worker and your Dr. as some insurances require the order from your Dr. I am sure that they will be able to help you set things up!!!! They did all the work for me as I too was so overwhelmed. Hospice are made up of wonderful people!!!! Hopsice aloud my husband to have a better quality of life towards the end which he wouldn't of had without them!!!

If I can help you in anyway email me anytime!! If you want - personnel email - bsrules@earthlink.net

You all are in my prayers!!!!!

    Love

    Sue,

Thank you, my brother has chosen to go to a convalescent hospital with hospice.... he wants a nurse around him 24/7....He is going today...if he does not like it, he will come home and we will take care of him... the doctor said he is going into renal failure already. I hope and pray that he will hang on to Jesus..

    Thank you for help...
