Hi there -
This will be a quick start to a thread. I am off to the hospital today; my father is having his stomach removed (tumor found about two weeks ago)......
And I am talking about food??

Okay, here we go. Today can be like a relay. I'll start and then hand it off!!

My thought for the day is to - as much as we can - make our calories count.
Choose wisely.
Breads - look for whole grains - even flourless, sprouted grain breads. The protein level is higher. Our colon digests them really well and they worth the search.
Food For Life is an excellent brand - distributed all over the US - and has a Label for their breads called Ezekiel. Their Cinnamon-Raisin is awesome!

Well - I'm outa here,
Off like a prom dress,
Hoping and praying for the best.

Eat well everyone, and have a great day.

Hugs and cheers,
Maura

Veggies, Veggies, Veggies. You can eat a ton of them and they hardly add up to any calories.
( warning for those watching their roughage )

Don't you wish you would have known what you know about nutrition now, years ago? I think that nutrition classes should be taught in middle school, when kids start to really think for themselves. I wish I would have been taught the ill effects of refined, processed foods way back then!!! I suppose there are some forces that be out there that would not want this to happen though. All you folks out there w/ kids - what are they teaching in school these days, if anything, about nutrition??

Well I can tell you they aren't teaching a dang thing about nutrition--just look at the lunches they serve and the pop and junk food machines they have in every school. And they allow pop companies to come in and "sponsor" school things--yeah right--morelike get our young'uns hooked on their poison.

But then all we have to do is look at what the "health" field teaches about health (how many nurses do you know who are obese and smoke--can't just be here in the midwest) and we all know what they serve at the hospital to eat......uh, no nutrition in that jello or mashed potatoe flakes....so as usual it's up to us to educate ourselves.

    ok off the soapbox now.....
