Shandle & taraHK, and any other lung met semi-colons,

I am so sorry you have to deal with this... such bad timing, although it is never good.

I simply want to wish you both all the best of luck with treatment/surgery.

I had my lung met resected last May; and I am doing great. My surgeon did a muscle sparing thoractomy and I recovered VERY quickly. YOU CAN BEAT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask the surgeon if they have much experience with the muscle sparing technique - reduces pain A LOT.
But, the surgeon told me; anyone with a history of chemo tends to need the chest tube to be left in place longer. I was discharged with it in, came back to hospital > 1 wk later for removal. Which was a piece of cake.

I will be sending all the positive vibes I can muster... stay tough.

love, jana

    Hi Jana,
Thank you, thank you, thank you. As I'm sure you know, it is so spirit-lifting to hear from others who have gone through something similar -- and who are doing well! Words can't describe how good that it. Also, I appreciate very much the information. I'm trying to learn as much as possible about this new 'phase'. Thanks for the info on the muscle sparing technique -- and also the heads up on the chest tube.
    Thanks!! Tara
