Melanoma and Divorce

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Metastatic Melanoma in April and just recently finished 4 rounds of biochemotherapy. A couple days before I started round 4 my husband of almost 13 years asked for a divorce. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you get through it?

Hello,

I'm sorry you haven't had a response to your question. You may want to consider searching our database by using the search bar at the top of the screen and using words such as "divorce" and then look at the webpages to see if anyone has had a similar experience. You can then contact them through the internal CSN email system and see if they would like to share their experiences.

I hope this information has been helpful. I wish you the best in your treatments.

Take care and be well,

Dana

I was on the biochemo treatment for 4 cycles and then 2 days before my last scan, my girlfriend of 3 and a half years broke up with me without a sensable reason. I think the thoughts and emotions get really wound up and knotted and you can't really tell what people are going to do under such stress. I don't really have any explaination but I understand the situation and have been there. How did I get through it? It was tough because there was no sensibility about it. I kept my head down and kept pushing for the ultimate goal: survival.

i'm sorry your husband has left you. being a spouse of a stage four patient, i understand the stress it entails. i suppose some people aren't strong enough to deal with the what if's, and also of always coming in second. it's a difficult life to be the supporter, and the informant. i found myself on anti depressant and anti anxiety meds. but leave my husband, i'td rather cut off my right arm.
