I will be soon going through the surgery to replace the expander with the permanent implant. Can anyone advise how you did with the surgery, and recovery, and how soon you were back to work, etc. Did you feel the new implant is more comfortable?

    Hi,
I didn't have this done personally but I have two close friends who did and they said it was like night and day the difference between the expander and the inplant. They were MUCH more comfortable. One had silicone so she is in a study group- they won't let you have the silicone unless you are enrolled in a closely monitored group and the other had saline. Both are doing great.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi Chess- yes the final implant is much more comfortable. Mine was an easy outpt. surgery, and fast recovery. I think I took about a week off to recuperate. Good Luck and God Bless.

I had surgery in June, 2003 to have the explander replaced by a saline implant. The implant is MUCH more comfortable. I had outpatient surgery, felt great after 1 1/2 weeks, and was back at work in 3 weeks.
