Finally to sleep comfortably

Just a word of encouragement. I was diagnosed a year and half ago and had a lumpectomy, radiation and lots of medicine since. This past March I had a enlarged lymph node taken out of the same breast to make sure that was all it was and then I had a hysterectomy this past June because of fibroid tumors and ovarian cysts. All this time I was thinking "if only I could sleep comfortably!" Well last week I realized I am sleeping in any position that I want to with no pain! In case anyone else out there is in the beginning of the process, have courage. It does get better.

    just wanted to say concrutlations on sleeping again.all be glad when i get there.right know they have me on Dexamasonian and are weinny me of it it cause insomina wcich i hate of course so it will be nice to go back to a norala sleep pattern.I wish yo u lots of ocnotune luck on your road to recovery.Bunnie.

    I experienced much the same as you did~I really wanted to be curled up in fetal position! I was so tired of being tired, and not being able to find that comfortable spot. Lo and behold, one night I turned over in bed (which used to make me awaken with a painful jolt!) and I was fine! Lying on my side! Happy Day! Yes, there is a light at the end of our tunnel...and it is NOT a freight train! Thanks for the encouragement and reminding me of the "simple pleasusres". Chenheart

    Sleep makes everything better! I'm 7 weeks past my surgery (left mast with nodes) and just had JP drains remove a couple of weeks ago. Of course I used to sleep on my surgery side, but after surgery, there was no way. I wasn't sleeping good - mostly tossing and turning!
    A couple of days ago I woke up, feeling well-rested for the first time since surgery, but it took me a moment to notice I was laying on my left side! WOW! Real sleep! Something so simple, that we take for granted is a HUGE deal! I can think straight, and I feel much more positive. Everything really is better with a good night's sleep!

    Bless your heart. Your post made me smile. I remember one night when I first came home from the hosp. after my bilateral mastectomy and tram flap. All those drains and pain and having to sleep on my back with the pillows...but, that one night, I felt like I was floating on a cloud. I am sure that it was the demerol and residual anesthesia, but, it was fabulous and only for ONE night. It was months until I could sleep well again. I am now 6 months since surgery and can easily sleep on my side with that arm jammed under my pillow. I love sleeping that way and the drain hole incisions would hurt me so badly I could not, but, now I can. So, it gets better and better!!
