Sore breast

The side of my breast near the incision has been sore for 3 weeks now. It's not a constant pain, just soreness when touched or with movement, like walking.

It's been 7 months since I had a lumpectomy. I finished chemo 4 weeks ago, started radiation last Monday. I mentioned it to the radiation tech and was told that it didn't look swollen or red, and I'm not running a fever, so it's not infected. Says it's probably normal, given all I've been through.

Has anyone else experienced that same problem?

    Hi,
When I had radiation I got something called radio dermatitis. It started out as just pain and then it turned red and sore. I would ask your doctor for Biafine RE cream. It is VERY Soothing during radiation. Cool compresses of salt water are very soothing as well.
Personally I hated radiation- I too did it in the summer and when you have these hot hot days added on to radiation I think it makes everything worse.
Good luck-I hope you feel better.

I should mention that the soreness is not from the radiation, I just started the radiation last week. I've had the soreness for 3 weeks now.

I'm going through a reconstruction and they are working at filling up the expander. My breast is sore a lot of the time. I take 400 mg of ibuprofen and I let the warm water wash over the affected area for a while when I shower. That seems to help. I think radiation might be making you sore. If it is the radiation, it will subside after the cycle is done.
