Anybody over 60?

I do enjoy the message board and find many concerns are shared by all ages. I am a long time survivor, for which I am thankful, but I have not found many survivors in my age range. If there are any out there, I would like to communicate with you.

    Hello Betty, I am another senior...age 65...I went through treatment a little over three years ago. I had a lumpectomy with chemo and radiation. I am still taking Tamoxifen and after the five years of Tamoxifen, my Onco will put me on Femara for 2 years. My email is kinkeeper@kc.rr.com and I will share experiences with you. Hugs, Nan

    Hi Betty, I've posted before but wanted to let you know I'm a 63-year-old retiring teacher due to breast cancer. I went almost 5 yrs. before it came back to my bones. As you can guess, I was devastated. I am undergoing treatment (chemo) again and will have scans soon to see if it has spread or just what is going on. So glad to hear you are doing well. I guess no matter how old you are, cancer is a horrible disease. Do you know anyone in my position? Good Luck, Jane

    Hi Betty,
    I am close...58 next week. I had a bilateral mastectomy in Nov '03. I had mets to lumbar spine and left hip treated with radiation. I am on aromasin, and get a monthly IV of Zometa and a monthly shot of Faslodex. I intend to be a survivor but can't quite claim that status yet I guess. I read the messages frequently but haven't posted very often. Being a newcomer is sometimes hard. Anyway I am happy to hear of your long time survivor status, I suspect it gives many of us optimism.     Hi Betty...I am 66..Have had a questionable Mamogram & Ultra sound...Have seen the surgeon, but not set a date for biopsy yet...This will be my 3rd biopsy in the last 20 yrs...First 2 were o.k..I'm really frightned this time..Don't like what the surgeon wants to do...A lumpectomy, have it checked immediatly, if bad, take some Lumph notes, if bad treat with Med's...Due to my Mom & sister being breast cancer survivors, that puts me at high risk...Due to my age, I'm thinking I don't want to worry anymore when these come up, so would rather have a full masectomy
    I am being so negative, sorry about that, don't even know if it is malignent...Don't know what to do...Any suggestions??

    Hi, Goldies==It is hard not to be negative when you get scary news. I hope and pray it will not be malignent. The only suggestion I can offer, (and I know it is easier said than done), is to try to take it one day at a time. I hope to hear from you again and you can email me here or at bettygee34@hotmail.com. Anytime you want to talk to somebody, I will be here.

    Thank you Dee...I do feel like a survivor but know I have a long road ahead of me. I finally have some energy back but continue to battle silly problems like underarm edema, weight gain, aches and pains. I am not used to not feeling absolutely well so I struggle. I feel like I am becoming a "whiner" but try not to. Thanks for your support. Ellen

    Hello: I am a 69 year old woman still working part time. I was diagnosed with DCIS in early Feb. and on March 1 had a left breast mastectomy. I would very much like to hear about your experience, comparisons, feelings, etc. Believe me, you are not alone.
