I stated that I was dealing w/low self esteem since my surgery and diagnosis. I am an AA, 32 y.o. diagnosed in sept of 2003 w/ bc. as of today I have one chemo left on 4/23. My hair has grown a little but, I have put on 40lbs. I'm often tired and sore and life is not the same. I find myself feeling sad and I cry often. I don't know what to do. I just want to feel like myself in some way.

Girl, you have got to pull yourself out of that rut! Find something to get involved with ie pottery class, ceramics, jewelry making. You are so lucky to have only one treatment left to go! Start doing Windsor Pilates, it's a great mood booster and will slowly help you to gain back strength (and you'll start to lose weight). Hair is only hair, it will grow back - be proud of who you are and what you have fought and won!!!

All of us have been there ... wishing our lives would just get back to something we recognize as being normal. So, you're not alone here. Most of us have figured out what gets us through the day... but it didn't happen overnight. We've all had doubts, but, we all keep going and pulling ourselves up out of where we were. We haven't done it alone, we've had our families and friends and support groups. It "takes a village" to raise a child ... and get through cancer. And you've probably already been getting through each day somehow. Give yourself time to heal, both physically and mentally. You'll get better looking as you heal and the weight ... as you feel better, you won't be sitting around as much and you'll get busy and the weight will start to come off (I joined Weight Watchers to get the last of it off -- it was a great place to go and listen to what other's are going through and it's not all cancer talk).

Hope Spring is happening where you are, 'cause better weather helps us feel better too.
