Has anyone gotten severe heartburn from Taxotere or Doxil? Im receiving both of them and it seems 2-3 days later everytime I try to eat heartburn seems to happen and it's intense. If anyone can shed some light on how to help this please give me some advice. Thank you & god bless.

Yes, I had bad heartburn from the taxotere. Unfortunately not even antacids helped. I found milk to be somewhat soothing. The good news is that it leaves as fast as it comes. When you're done with the taxotere, then it just stops. Good luck!

    Hi Onyx,
I have bad heartburn from about day 5 through day 8. Tums help me. I'm on day 2 of my 3rd cycle (1/2 way point) of chemo, and I asked my oncologist if I can pop the Tums whenever I needed them, and she said o.k. They help, but I need them about everytime I eat something. I usually take 2 each time.
I hope you find some help. Remember to ask your oncologist for something stronger if you need it.
    Good luck!

I have just completed 12 consecutive weeks of Taxotere after A/C. I have had severe heartburn and joint aches. What is concerning me is that I now have breathing problems. It hurts to cough, sneeze, or take deep breaths. Anyone else have this? If so, what did you do?

Reflus started for me during the ECF chemo before the Taxotere. Dr. put me on Nexium which took care of it. Now that I am done with treatments (yeah!), I tried stopping taking it, but restarted recently. I tried it too soon.

Do not accept discomforts that can be addressed!

My wife had heartburn after eating with stomach pains while taking Adriamycin and Cytoxan series (she is now taking Taxotere). She was prescribed Pepsid (Famotidine) and it helped alot. Hope that this helps you.
