Not sure how close you are to Houston but, according to all reports, M.D. Anderson is #1 in breast cancer research and treatment. The number of reconstructive procedures done would certainly be high. There's another resonstructive alternative called the GAP flap. It utilizes tissue and fat from the upper buttock, instead of the abdomen, originally developed for women with insufficient stomach fat or with scars that preclude the abdomen as a donor site. It would also put the additional scar across your lower back region instead of your abdomen. From what I've read, relatively little fat is required from this area to build a nice size breast and recovery times are slightly shorter than with the TRAN flap. I try to keep current on my options should I get to the point where I am ready to consider additional surgery. Good luck with your choice and let us know about your results.

Hi krista thanks for responding. Can you give the name of the Surgeon and the place . I tried contacting MD anderson through their contact service filled an on lineinfo but no one has contacted me. my mind is swaying back and forth between implants/and this DIEP procedure. are you in pain from the donor site, scar tissue, infection any problems. Thanks Preeti
