whats bevacizumab/avastin

I'm participating in a trial that includes bevacizumab twice a month...along with taxol. The other name for bev is avastin. Avastin is the drug that was FDA approved yesterday for advanced colon cancer. They are still researching this drug for lung and metastatic breast cancer. It is suppose to cut off the blood supply to tumors...it's also known as VEGF. My trial will close approx in July. Don't know if it will be approved for BC. Early results showed disapointing results for bc, but I will continue to hope it works on me. It's not a cure but they found it could extend lives. It's in todays paper if you wish to read about it.
