eyelashes

HELP! My last chemo was Aug. 5th 2003, followed by radiation for 6 wks. I had a lumpectomy for a stage 2 left breast cancer. Chemo was A/C dose dense. I lost all my hair including eyelashes and eyebrows. All that came back, except that now my eyelahes are falling out again. Is this normal? Any info greatly appreciated. God Bless all, Amelia

    Someone just mentioned the same thing on 1/28 in the 5 messages on Page 2 about "PEOPLE AND PHONE CALLS." A few months ago, someone else said that her eye doctor explained the eyelashes are really in 3 rows, not one, and they grow back at different times. I, too, have a sort of on again/off again business going on with the eyelashes, and the eyebrows look full one day and sparse in places the following week. My hair has grown about 2 1/2 inches long (last chemo was August 11th) and it looks pretty much like a head of hair now, although the only thing I can "do" with it is comb it straight out from my head which gives a finger-stuck-in-a-light-socket sort of look.

    Denise, thanks for the info. Even if it's not normal, at least I'm not the only one. That gives me a glimmer of hope they'll grow again. I was kinda hoping after chemo and stuff, life could get back to "the way it was normal". I guess i have a new "normal" now. My hair is a short, but full head of hair also. The back is longer than the top and front, but I can wear a headband and go out in public comfortably. I lost my strawberryblond, and am having trouble finding it in a box. My hair came back in a dark sandy blond color, or a "no" color as I call it. But I was so scared that it wouldn't grow back at all, I'll take what I can get!! Hugs back at ya, Amelia

    My last chemo was August 30th and I was trying to find a way to describe it. "Finger in the lightbulb" fits. My students say its "edgy". I'm just so glad to have hair.

    Hello everyone :) My last chemo was May 9, 2003 and just the past few months I've noticed my eyelashes falling out and becoming very sparse. I had that on my list of questions for my oncologist next month, but sounds like I'm not alone. I'm having a ball with my hair! My DH never wanted me to cut my long hair (been married for 18 years)but he's the one who had to shave it last March and now that it's back it's natural curly and I'm having so much fun coloring it! I HAVE to color as it came in all grey and at 38 I refuse to have grey!! LOL It's so fun going to the hairdresser and saying just do what you want! I've been bald, nothing could look worse than that!! LOL Hugs

    I finished chemo last February 17, 2003. I have lost my eyelashes two times since that date. Now they are really pretty (full and long)- so hang in there.

    Cheryl, thanks so much for sharing that info. You can't imagine the weight you have taken off my shoulders. It's bad enough to have to go through everything we have to go through, and then mess with our a part that is so visable too boot. God Bless, Amelia

    My Chemo ended in June and my eyelashes , all three rows (my eye doctor said) are back. But the eyebrows are somewhat a confusing mess. Do I pluck the strays and look as if I have 3 or 4 hairs or leave the stragglers to look as if I have fuller brows? It is a question I ask daily but I know that one day this will pass and I will not have that small concern. Also, if that is the worst problem I have I am doing pretty DARN well. Good Luck- C
