Hey all,

It's been a couple of months since I last updated on everything, I had to go back and look at my last posting! I hope everyone had the best holiday they could have, too.

Susan's cancer turned out to be 2.5CM, ER/PR+, HER2- (FISH test). The oncologist staged it at IIB (T2N1M0) when we met with him last month.

We were told that Susan would have to have FAC (or equivalent) chemotherapy and radiation, however, the doc gave her an alternative based on ER/PR+ status. He said that she could have her ovaries shut down or removed and then get on Tamoxifen after radiation. He showed (and gave) us copies of studies and treatment plans based on those studies and our initial consult with him was over two hours long.

Susan chose this path over traditional chemotherapy on our next appointment with the oncologist. She had her ovaries removed instead of using drugs to shut them down and she had this surgery this past Wednesday. She's doing OK with it. Tired and a bit sore, but getting better every day.

Tomorrow, she is scheduled to see the radiation oncologist for the simulation and marking session, then start rads on Monday.

She is leaving the port in on the advise of the oncologist and it has been used in surgeries a couple of times since they put it in.

In the meantime, I have been supporting her and trying to gain as much info as I can about the treatments. She hopes and prays she made the right decision as do I, we have tremendous confidence in her team and what they say.

I see I have a lot of catching up to so on this site, so I better get to it.

Jack

So glad to hear from you and that treatment is progressing well. Faith in your team is very important to healing and it just sounds like you both are doing homework. My prayers are with you. C
