I am a human dog toy

Ok ladies, help me out. After my implant was put in I got a air bubble the size of a dime. I went to the Dr. and he said not to worry about it, that my body would absorb this air. Well that was last week. This week it has become larger and sore. It is the size of a plum. Now I got another appt. with the Dr. on Tuesday, you know the paronoid cancer thoughts. Will this air pocket go to my brain? Not that it would hurt anything being a blonde with a chemobrain. Now what was I saying? Oh yea, so I was thinking that I could insert one of the squeeky things from a dog toy into that air pocket and drive the animals crazy, and I think my husband would enjoy it as well. - Has anyone had air pockets? Please reply - kinda feeling like I should be worried. Thanks Cammie

    Cammie, I don't know anything about your problem but I just had to tell you I love your sense of humor! The picture of the dogs going crazy with an unseen squeeky toy just makes me laugh. Good luck, I hope that it is nothing more than air, and keep the great attitude. That is the best thing we can do for ourselfs. Judy

    Hi Cammie. This is not exactly your answer either, but thought I'd chime in to see what other people have to say in general about implant recovery etc. I got my tissue expander in 3 weeks ago and have been experiencing one problem after another. Not terribly serious but definitely impact my daily life. If I get too much activity I have fluid build up around the expander. And I get a very goofy distorted "mound" As if it's not messed up enough! the Dr. wasn't really concerned but said to try and limit activity. Which is getting really hard since I planned on be "recovered" from this last surgery after 2 weeks! I also got a bladder infection, and now a yeast infection from all the antibiotics. (I had to stay on them for 2 weeks because I had so much fluid then they wouldn't take my drain out for 2 weeks). Another thought to throw out - the expander seems to be changing position and I can feel the edges in different positions. I've been so frustrated because I thought I choose the easy route! My sense of humor has not returned yet......

    The expander is the worst it gets. After the expander it does get easier, except this dern air bubble. I know I wasn't happy during the expanding period which lasted 3 months. Zoloft queen here. That is what helps with the humor in such a hard situation. I didn't mean to make light of our problems, but sometimes you just have to laugh, tears come too easy. So sorry that you are having such problems. I will be thinking of you. Cammie

    Let me confess straight out that I know nothing about any of this. I just thought, though, that when the expander comes out to put the implant in, the air bubble will be "burped out." Actually, my very first thought was that your surgeon deserves to have the scare of his life to have a squeak toy thingy go off in response to a poke. Plus, I got a chuckle out of the riddle about whether chemobrain is an issue when one is blonde. Chemonesia is what scared the raisins out of me most, and I struggled to conceal it from everyone until it was apparent that they were alarmed. When I explained it, it suddenly became hilariously funny and the source of endless family jokes. Go figure. Love, Denise (Whatever you do, don't stick a pin in there to pop the bubble. You might pop something totally unintended.)

    When it rains it pours.I had such an easy time after getting my implant in. Guess I shouldn't have been so self assured. I had my implant put in about 10-11 weeks ago and was doing great. But in the last several weeks have started to have pain on the lateral side (closer to arm). Last night couldnt get out of bed sitting straight up because of excruciating pain. Had to roll on my side and prop up on my elbow. It was like "de ja vue" from my mastectomy surgery. Oh well have an appointment in a couple of weeks with the plastic surgeon. Are we having fun yet? Ha ha

    I love your sense of humor as well. I can just see you laying on the table and as the plastic surgeon squeezes your implant you squeeze the dog toy. Should startle him big time. Good Luck with the air.
    I guess non of the reconstruction is uncomplicated. I kind of thought you expanders/implant girls were luckier then I was. Guess there are complications, side effects to every thing they do to us. When does the fun start. Beth

    I've had no experience with this either, but take the squeaky toy with you next time! When I had the tatoos done for radiation, I taped a comic of Calvin and Hobbes on my breast and asked them to use that pattern!! After they were all done wetting their pants or running to the bathroom, they asked, "Are you nervous? We can let you see someone..." I was able, then, to express my concerns that my doc said were, "no problem." It definitely helps to have humor!!

    This is "getupango" again. Things are getting better. SLower than I'd like, but at least moving in the right direction. Fluid seems to be less, but now I have a sharp edge sticking out the side like a triangle! It's the implant that I think is pushed down more because there is not as much room higher where the steri strip is still on. Think I can take it off after 3 1/2 weeks? Nurse saw me last time and was afraid to take it off - said to leave it. But I think my steristrip came off after the masectomy earlier than this... Occassionally, my humor asserts itself and I found this funny reading through the second time. Another thought - think I can swim 3 1/2 weeks after surgery? Nurse wouldn't touch that either..... no answer really. I know it's all temporary, and we're really fortunate to be at this stage where we can consider "stuff" instead of cancer treatments! How's that air bubble doing? Does it move???
