Okay guys I'm back with question number 1 million...Finished last treatment of taxoterre last week. I see the plastic surgeon next week for a check up and to schedule surgery to begin the next phase of reconstruction...beacause "they can rebuild me"...I'm wondering when I will see some real hair growth on my head as well as the return of the old brows and lashes. I miss looking in the mirror and actually seeing the me I remember. I guess she's really gone forever. Now I have to get used to the new me. Any help will be fabulous. Thanks Tara

Tara, Congratulations on completing chemo! I finished Taxotere June 13th, and am awaiting removal of my port so they can schedule my implant and reduction surgery! Isn't it exciting?
My hair started back slowly, just fuzz, about my 2nd Taxotere. Now after a month off, I've got some hair I can hold onto! Not much, but it's definitely coming in. My eyebrows have started to come in, they were very sparse before I had chemo so I'm not expecting much! My eyelashes are still thin, I haven't seen much change yet but have been told it should be anytime! My legs are still bare...yea and my underarms are just starting, I shaved them this morning for the first time since my mastectomy in Dec. It's been nice not having to do all the hair stuff before I go out, I get out the door really fast, but I want it back and can hardly wait!! So, it will come, we just have to be patient. I am not good at that but I guess I have no choice. Good luck to you! Julene

What a great point to be at! Tara, you are really such a help, pointing out that the path does indeed get to the point of looking a lot better. The person you were is still intact... just the "pod" changed for now. Love, Denise

    Hello,
I can't help but ask how old must be in your thirties??
Glad you found a place to ask those questions the women hear are incredible. I came 4 years after my cancer fight, because I was left coping with most side affects from all my treatments. Only a few a very few happen to be blessed with this, I think the alternative is pretty clear.
I was stage 3 11 out of 21 positive nodes and good for you for keeping your nose to the ground and doing what you need to carry on.
Yes it is a challange to accept all one is left with, to deal with. But that is all one can do and minimize the risks and realize what we were doing before wasn't working. Don't know about you but lived a pretty stressful life and single mother to boot. But thankfully had the best friends and family that were better roll models in the end.
Glad to see that name up there, being another Tara. The Irish word is not my fave, but Terra always suited me.
    Be good to yourself always,
    Tara

    Hi Tara,

I finished chemo on May 22nd and my hair is about 1.5 inches long and looks like its gonna be curly! My brows are also FINALLY growing in really quickly and my upper lids have lashes but nothing on the bottom. I started having to shave my legs again about a month ago but so far my underarms are still baby smooth! My hair is growing back rather patchy which is freaking me out a bit but I'm trying not to panic. I've started taking a nutritional supplement from Nioxin which has biotin in it. Supposed to promote hair growth. We'll see!

I've been coloring my hair since I found some gray hairs at 26 so I had no idea what to expect. Well, girlfriend, I am probably 80% gray! WHo knew what was hiding beneath Miss Clairol Sparkling Sherrry??
