Since I lost all of my hair, I wear hats. I found wigs too hot! I have surges of heat under the hats. Does anyone else experience this with either wigs or hats?

    Dear DS1
Not sure where your problem is coming from. You may be having hot flashes by the chemo induced menupause so many of us go thur. YOu may see many of us refer to it as ''chemopause'' -for lack of a better expression..lol.
I was blad, in Texas, in the middle of summer where the temps hover just under 100 degress for about 3 months, so I was always hot. I found that just a bandanna or a do-rag ( the one that bikers wear) so much more comportable than hat or wig. I only wore the wig less than dozen times. I hated it. I was even known upon occassion to come out naked headed sporting the lastest fake tattoo out of the machine at the walmart--my children have warped sence of humors...or is that sences of humor?? no mas..
I hope it gets better for ya.. HUGS
    much luck and God Bless

I have found a good straw hat from Target (sylish but functional)

And I thought the heat sruges may be hot flashes. I wasn't sure. I think you are brave for the tattos but I applaude you and think that you do have a good sense of humor. They tease me at work because the surges tend to come when I am trying to figure out something. They say that the surges are thought related (smile) Thanks for your reply

I have the same thing happen when I'm not wearing my wig or a hat. I agree that this is probably hot flashed due to "chemopause". My hot flashes start on the back of my head (odd) and then my whole head starts to sweat, they don't last too long and I found that just fanning myself works.

During the hot weather, I wore soft caps like the ones in the ACS book. Speaking of do-wrags..I had been wondering where I could find one. I was on the elevator in the hospital. In walked a young guy who looked like he could be a biker or in a 'gang', so I asked him! I'm sure he was surprised at this middle-aged woman asking him, but he told me. A couple of times I wore a straw hat. It had a periwinkle blue bow/sash tied around it. I wore a flowered blue wide headband under it. Looked like I was ready to board a yacht! Ha!

    Take care,
    Geral

I think most everybody has episodes of hot head, but in the absence of hats, wigs, bandanas, etc. the body casts the heat off without it getting trapped. My wigs have a nice open mesh base, but I rip 'em off my head as soon as the heat starts to build up and hurl the hairy offender across the room, aiming at the wig stand, yet always missing it. Then, when the doorbell rings, I have to sit very meekly in my recliner until my husband passes through the living room and hands me a wig on his way to the door. Hugs, Denise
