In April 2003 I was told that I have Stage 4 NSCLC with a mass (4 cm) in my right lung, both adrenal glands and 2 lymph nodes. I have done 2 rounds of Chemo. My dr. says I have a 20% chance of surviving 1 year but she has known of patients living 15 to 18 months. I am looking for Stage 4 folks who have lived longer than 18 months and am attempting to compile names, phone numbers and more into a survivors list. Please feel free to contact me at moldy61@sbcglobal.net or 580-353-5132.

Thanks, Margo Lubbers

Margo, hi I am Jackie, I have stage IIIB NSCLC also inoperable, i have gone through 8 months of chemo and 7 weeks of radiation last year (found out last april), finished up in Dec. 2002 and now just started back up again May 28 on Gemzar. It also has spread to my lymph nodes in my neck and is around the heart. I had 5 months of no treatment and that was nice, but i have another spot on my lung again. Stay strong and have faith and you will stay alive for as long as you want to. I am 35 years old and I am going no where no time soon I have a 13 and 7 year old who need me. I fyou would like to talk email me at aircece1@aol.com We all need all the support we can get. Take care and god bless you.

Hi Margo; so sorry to hear of your diagnoses, I 100% agree with Jackie, " stay strong and have faith". Although not a stage IV survivor, I am a stage IIB 2 year survivor. My left lung was removed on May 2, 2001 so I do understand the anguish and fear that go's with a dx. of lung cancer. In regards to your question about stage IV survivors, besides being a member here at ACS, and I really do love it here, I also belong to lungcancersurvivors.org. There are about 400 survivors and caregivers on the boards there, and a section devoted to late stage survivors. You may want to pop in over there, and get some additional names for your list.
Hope this helps, I can be reached at rmccu37700@aol.com, here on ACS, or as I said on lungcancersurvivors.org.
God bless, be well and know you are not alone!

Hi, last week my father who is 58 years old was diagnosed with Lung cancer. We are still waiting for the test results to determine exactly the kind of cancer. What the doctors have said is that it is stage 4 and he is too sick & weak for them to perform chemo or radiation therapy. A few days after that we were told to call hospice b/c he has 3-6 months. I would also love to hear from anyone in this same situation and lived beyond the doctors predictions. Thank you,

Hi Margo: In June 2003 I was dx with nsclc stage 3b by one doctor an stage 4 by another In my right lung and also in my nodes between my lungs. The size of the tumor in my lung I was told is the size of a tennis ball and my nodes apricot size. Non operatable. They gave me 4 chemo and 30 rad treatments. Had the ct results and the cancer in me is in full remission no sign of it at all. I am going in on Feb.9 for removal of my right lung and lymphnodes, the doctor said I have a 90% chance of a complete cure. I am a Christian and I believe that with all the people that were praying for me and my own belief in Jesus Christ as the greatist Physican Is why I was cured. Trust in the Lord for he dose his works in mysterious ways. I am 64 yrs. old Gob bless you and I will pray for you and your family...
