I live on an island (12,000 population) where there seems like there's a lot of cancer. I only have degrees in education, nothing in the medical field. Do you think I could start some kind of support-sharing group with the residents? Or you think it's a bad idea? Thanks.

    Hey There,
I started a local support group in the 80s and it is still doing great, although I am in no position to attend like I used to.... The point is to establish some guidelines much like AA as far as spiritual concepts. The most beneficial is the fact that you are all sharing a common bond & that is cancer. I think it is a wonderfull idea. Its not a matter of having a degree in anything as much as it is sharing & offering morale support.
