Too much to cope with

My Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer about 2 months ago. They started Chemo at the beginning of April, but I don't think the family is really coping with it. Everyone seem to be relying on me for everything (my being unmarried and out of work), but it's just too much for me to cope with right now. Is there anyone willing to talk to a 23 year old confused and stressed out kid?

Hi Amy...I am 43 years old, and had breast cancer. I didn't have to have chemo, so I don't know exactly what your mom is going through, and I'm not sure of all the feelings you have, as I've never been on the other end of this...it's all new to me, too. But, I just want you to know there is a lot of support out here...you can chat here any time, because everyone cares how everyone feels here. Check with your mom's oncologist's office to see if they know of a support group for children of cancer survivors. You may feel a bit aprehensive walking in the first time, but try not to. I wasn't sure about a support group myself, but I wouldn't trade it for anything, and I look forward to it so much. You'd be surprised at how many people are feeling so many of the same things you are. Please keep in touch...let us know how Mom is doing, and let us know how you are doing. God bless...Cyndi

Dear Amy,
I know this is alot for a young woman to cope with. Please know, your Mom needs you more than she has ever needed you in her life. She needs to be taken care of and needs someone else to bare the load. You have the strength and the courage to help her and the rest of the family cope. Be strong, even though your scared, or tired, or overwhelmed. When I was diagnosed, I could not have made it through the whole ordeal without my family caring for me. I needed someone else to take charge of everything that was going on around me. It was such a relief not to have to deal with laundry, housework, carpool, my job.
Be brave! I will be praying for your Mom and your whole family.

Amy,I know how you feel.Everyone,my mom dad and siblings rely on me to get them through any crisis.I am a nurse, but I don't know everything.Amy,you are apparentaly the srong one in your family.and they trust your judgement,I know you are stressed.they depend on you and sometimes the strong ones would like to be one of the weaker ones..Talk to your family and tell them how you feel. That didn't work with my family..
Take care of yourself
