I have a question that I would like to ask , I know that a lot of you wont want to even look at this side of things , but because Dolores' condition is now "so called terminal"I really need to ask this......when someone who has terminal cancer ie only so long to live ....HOW DO THEY PASS ON...?????? is there pain involved (Icould not handle my babe going through anymore pain)or does that person just go to sleep and not wake in our world, the doctors are a mine of useless info!I want to know because Dolores is the most special & important part of my life , I want to be prepared to help her however I can.If you cant answer this please point me in the correct direction.

    Hello
I'm so sorry you and Delores have to go through this. I lost my precious Daddy in June. According to his case, there is a time where the doctors put the patients on "comfort only" meds. These meds keep away pain. The patient sleeps alot. Luckily, my Daddy passed in his sleep in the hospital in the middle of the night. I'm not going to tell you that it was not devestating. I miss him so much. However, I know his last days were pretty much pain free. Please contact a Hospice Care facility. Your hospital can direct you to a social worker that can help you find a Hospice volunteer. They can give you all of the information you may need. They also lead you through the steps.
Good luck with your loved one. God Bless.

MY MOTHER WAS ALSO TERMINAL SHE DIED IN AUG.2001. THE BODY'S MAIN ORGANS BEGIN TO SHUT DOWN SLOWLY EACH DAY. BUT IN MY MOTHER'S CASE I BELEIVE HER LUNGS FINALLY JUST FILLED UP WITH FLUID AND THAT'S THE WAY SHE PASSED ON. I DONT REALLY KNOW THE DEGREE OF PAIN THIS CAUSES BUT MY MOTHER NEVER REALLY HAD A CHEIF COMPLAINT SHE WAS JUST VERY WEAK. SHE FOUND OUT IN MARCH OF 2001 THAT SHE HAD LUNG CANCER AND SHE DIED IN AUG.2001. I WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED IN JANUARY 2001. AND HAD MY LEFT LUNG REMOVED. I HAVE HAD CANCER TWICE CERVICAL CANCER WHEN I WAS 25 1993. AND IN 2001 LUNG CANCER WHEN I WAS 33. A YEAR HAS ALMOST PAST AND I'M DOING FINE NOW. PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT [email protected] IF YOU NEED TO TALK

    GOD BE WITH YOU BOTH!

Rhonda you have such a sad story almost more than one person should have to bear. Is your lung cancer new or was it spread from your cervical cancer? I have read your other postings and we seem to have had the same treatment. I only had lower lobe of left lung resected though, not the whole lung like you.Does that make you really short of breath?
