Alternative Forms of Treatment

Hello Everyone:
I have already learned some information from others in here but I wonder if you can provide me alternative treatments that have worked for you along side with your traditional forms of treatment (chemo,radiation, etc). My mom is on chemo but with her being so ill and weak (mestasis in the lung, ribs, abdomen, liver, bones) that I am desperate to have her try something additional. There is so much information on the internet that it gets confusing. Like Amino Acid Therapy, Shark Cartiledge, etc. Any information would be appreciated. God Bless you all. Mary

    Rather than those "iffy" alternative treatments, I would stay with good nutrition which is always safe and important. When your mom doesn't feel like eating, one of the nutrition drinks(chilled) - Ensure, Boost (this was in the chemo clinic where I went) and blend in some ice cream etc. And at least a daily multi-vitamin.

    While On chemo, I've read articles that just before and a few days after chemo treatment, some doctors think it is better to skip vitamin supplements so as not to interfere with the effects of chemo.

    Just my thoughts on your question.

    I wanted to suggest 2 books that have been helpful to me as well as a dear friend who is a cancer survivor. "Love, Medicine & Miracles" by Bernie Siegel and " Spontaneous Healing" by Andrew Weil... These books are also on tape. I will pray for your mom and your family.

    A FRIEND OF MINE HAS HAD STAGE IV COLON CANCER AND AFTER HAVING THE TUMOR REMOVED HAS BEEN DOING CHEMO AS WELL AS NUTRITIONAL IV TREATMENTS. SHE IS DOING GREAT! YOU WOULD NEVER HAVE GUESSED THE DOCTORS TOLD HER SHE WOULD NOT BE WITH US AT THIS TIME. SHE IS SO FULL OF LIFE AND ENERGY! I'M NOT SURE WHERE SHE GOES BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE INFORMATION I'M SURE I CAN FIND OUT.
    I JUST REALIZED HOW OLD THE POSTING I'M REPLYING TO WAS BUT MAYBE IT COULD BENEFIT SOMEONE ELSE!
