Hi!
My name is Laura. Last year I started a group called Chemo Angels, and I would like to tell you a bit about
it. We are a volunteer group dedicated to adding a
ray of sunshine to the lives of those undergoing
treatment for cancer. We believe that men, women and
children who are going through the physical, emotional
and mental rigors of chemotherapy and/or radiation
therapy deserve some pampering and special treatment!
Here is how it works! If you are a cancer patient who is about to begin, or has begun treatment, we will send you a questionaire to
fill out which will give us an idea as to what sort
of surprises would brighten your day and lighten your
heart. You will be "adopted" by a Chemo Angel who,
through small gifts, cards, encouraging notes, etc...
will be your angel for the duration of your course of
treatment.

Money is never solicited from patients, nor are financial gifts accepted from
them. This is strictly a labor of love.

Please feel free to contact me with any
questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Laura Armstrong

Someone did something similiar for me. Every week I received encouraging cards---sometimes funny, sometimes with poems, sometimes inspirational, and I really grew to look forward to them. Each card was signed from "secret pal". This went on for months and I eventually did figure out who it was and I did get to thank her, but it really meant alot to me and gave me encouragement when I needed it most.

Dear Laura
this really is a wonderful idea! My chemo was very agressive (from may to september 1999) and I still remember the wish of support and help.
Does your group only exist in US - could we imagine a similar group in Switzerland?
Thanks for your reply and all the best

This is my first time to this site. I have had ovarian cancer and have had chemo, taxol and carbo platin. Also have had radiation. One side effect I have from the chemo is numbness in my feet. Has anyone else experienced this side effect? MJ
