My wife also received a call from this outfit.... I was going to send a check then saw the return address... it was to a drop box in a UPS store in NJ....then went on the web and saw to much negative info about them.... I called and canceled the donation and will make it elsewhere... blessings to all...OldManDave

Good info.

Good policy to not even answer the phone if the number is "unavailable" or 1-800-something. We mostly use our cell phones, so anyone on our home phone is either a solicitor or my mom. So, Aortus, what is skip tracing? Sound ominous.

Tash, I am one of those liberals, but your post made me laugh out loud. I will take you off my calling list!

Claudia,
Oh yes, please I want lots more. And the zip lock bags, please. I will use them for Christmas presents and then I won't have to gift wrap. Everyone will admire my sharp business skills and how I got such a great deal. You are the best. Abd the size is so perfect. Do you have any more good deals? Momma said that I had a special name engraved on my forehead. Guess it's cause I love lollipops so much. It's the word "Sucker". LOL

And don't you agree, Stef that the engraving of Washinton is such a nice size? Fits into a pocket, a wallet,or for just $7.99 shipping and handling, I will send you a plastic sandwich-sized zip-lock storage bag for FREE!! That way, if you want to order more engravings, you will have the perfect place for them! LOL Let me know! :-)

I also have specific

I also have specific charities I donate to and I never donate from a phone call. In fact I have caller ID and if I don't recognize the name or it is blocked I let it go to the machine. If it is important they will leave a message, it not, who cares. Scams are just too easily done via the phone and many charities take way too much out for "adminstrative" costs. Better safe than sorry, don't give if you aren't sure they are 100% legitimate. My two cents worth. I bought them from Claudia for $10 each so they are real.

The minute I pick up the phone and they start trying to get money out of me, I hang up. I used to cuss at them. ( sorry ) Well, they always called at the worst times. lol

Liberals are nice people

Liberals are nice people too. But wouldn't it be nice to save the world? Independence Day movie he saved the world one soda can at a time.

I always tell people, "Liberal is not a four letter word."

I've heard it used that way a lot!

Makes you think, "Why are bad words always four letters?" Don't answer that.

Before I finished Chemo and was a bald and miserable Hag...but a hopeful one, I got a circular begging letter from the Cancer society including a 'Handwritten' letter by some bloke whose most beloved wife had died of breast cancer. I know it only advertising and all that scam, BUT they really should be on the ball about just WHO they send this stuff out to! It sure vexed me for a while.
When the Policemen/Firemen

When the Policemen/Firemen fundraisers call us, Reggie always asks if the caller is a Firefighter or a Policeman. He knows they are not, and they always say they are NOT. End of phone call!

But, you all know me, right? Screenname and Real Name? So none of you will be suspicicous when I tell you that I am selling Official Engravings of George Washington~ dated and legal in the USA. If you send me 10 dollars, I will send you a penny! HAHAHAHA!!! Sheesh~ that is proabably a scam somewhere that unsuspecting patriotic people are falling for.

Which reminds me~ know how we were talking about all of the BC awareness things foisted on us last month? I saw one which was just topped it for me was not even pretending to give money to BC research. It was ( no kidding) a PINK child-size sleeping bag with the tag line "show your support for someone who has SUFFERED with breast cancer."

Thanks for the heads-up...scammers be damned!

Hugs,
Charities-A Word to the Wise

Tonight I got a phone call from Breast Cancer Charities of America. They were asking for donations to help with the cost of medication for patients. Ok, sounded good to me until I started asking questions. After going through 3 different people, who wanted to know if I would donate at least $20.00, I found out only 20% goes to the charity the rest,80%, goes to admin. cost. Watch out for these types. They are not here for us. ACS is.
