    Linda,
    I was on bp meds

    Linda,
I was on bp meds before the Avastin and I was 120/80 with the meds. However, after the 4th Avastin treatment it was at 150/90 and continued even after they increased my medication. After the 5th treatment, bp did not lower and the protein was elevated in the urine. He stopped the treatment before #6.

    Blood pressure
    Joni,
Thanks so much. My b/p was 154/100 at the doctor's office before starting the Avastin. They went ahead and gave me my first treatment. They did up the b/p medicine and it has been all over the place. One day the bottom number will be 102 and then the next time it might be 78. It is making me nervous.
My next treatment is scheduled for week after next, Feb. 15. I will go to the lab next Tuesday to check everything else out.

    ((((Thank you))))

    understand about the hair
Like many of the other posts, I believe this will be a powerful combo for you and hope you get the greatest results. Your hair is lovely and I know it is frustating. I just started Cisplatin/Adriamycin and while other anticipated side effects were not too bad, hair fell out promptly two weeks after first treatment, I got my head shaved yesterday and it feels so much better. I like Linda P's suggestion about a new wig every other month as my treatment is scheduled for 6 months. I have a short salt and pepper that is age appropriate and I think fairly attractive. But maybe I will indulge in a couple of more outrageous choices this time around -especially until the weather gets hot and all I can tolerate in Fla. are ball caps.
Good luck and we will await progress with great interest.

    "sock it to me" taxol
The hair thing could be sooooo worth it, but that part is not fun. I'm so excited to see what the power of taxol can do after two years... go get, girl!

Nancy--You are in my thoughts and prayers. The taxol/avastin combo will kick the cancers butt :)
I would be upset about losing my hair again too. Wigs are fun though. Treat yourself to a funky new wig in a new color!
    Blessings,

    Good !
    Linda,
Mine was all over the place too. But, when the protiene was elevated in the urine after the 5th treatment, he sent me for the CT/PET scan and stopped the Avastin. This does not mean I'll never be able to have Avastin again, Not sure how all that works. I start Topotecan next Thursday (3 on 1 off) for 3 months and the another CT/PET. I hope the Avastin works with/for you. Joni

I'm sorry you are going to
I'm sorry you are going to lose your hair Nancy but it is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I wish you well on your new treatment. Sounds like a good, delicious combo to me. :-)

By the way, I can't figure out how to respond to a private message. It disappeared after my initial reading. Sorry.

    Best,
    Kate
