Herceptin

How do you know if you are Her-2 Positive. Is it in the Neu part of the CBC blood test. If you are high does it mean you can get Herceptin? I have tried to look it up and can't find info

Thank you

Pray for Vince please His Pet Scan is tomorrow.

Love

    Hello Barb and Vince
I am not familiar with the herceptin, but I know I have seen it being talked about on this site. The people that come to mind are Jane and Charlie? I think that is right. So many people, so many names! I just wanted to let you know I will be praying that Vince's pet scan goes well tomorrow! It will...stay positive :) Let us know how he makes out. Thinking of you both.

    New Her2 test for EC
    Barb,
I was recently told by a biologist/researcher friend of mine that there is a new and different tumor testing process for esophageal cancer cells for Her2 than the test that is the standard test for breast cancer cells. For EC, the standard test might not produce positive results, whereas the new test for EC cells could produce a different result. Ask your husband's doctor whether he/she is aware of the different testing methods.

I am leaving on a long-awaited vacation tomorrow, but when I get home in a couple weeks, I plan on looking into this some more. In the meantime, perhaps others on this board have more information on the new test.
