    Okay
Okay, got to say that any movie with Denzel Washington or John Travolta would be a favorite!

    Hi Lisha,

I recommend "The King's Speech". Hopefully it will win the oscar this year. The acting is beyond great You will walk out of the movie feeling wonderful and full of hope. I never knew King George had suffered an embarrassing stutter when he spoke.

I am not sure of the time zone you are living in. Not to be missed on Sunday's, channel 13 PBS, "Masterpiece Classic, Downtown Abbey" at 9 PM EST. Since I watch Desperate Housewives at the same time Sunday's, EST 9 PM, I watch the show on Monday's, 9 PM channel 21 PBS. I believe it is in 5 parts. Not sure if this week is part 3 or 4, but still worth watching.

    Enjoy Love Maggie

Maggie, I believe tonight is episode 4. My PBS station showed episodes 2&3 last week. I saw "The King's Speech" and agree with you, it was a wonderful movie!

Sue, you and I could share books and TV shows too!

    Lisha,

I worked in a bookstore up to the time I got sick on Thanksgiving. The Art of Racing in the Rain is my new favorite. I loved Enzo! I'm looking for something to take to the hospital with me next week and make take that one. It's not about dogs, but I also liked The Help. I also liked anything by Jodi Picoult.

I'm also a movie fan and loved UP. We don't have cable where we live, and we watch lots of movies on Netflix.

    Good Idea
Hey Lisha, this is a really good idea.

I love almost any movie with George Clooney in it. Also any movie Clint Eastwood directed or starred in. However my favorite movie of all times is ET.

I'm with Sue on alot of her choices in books and TV. Favorite TV, Bones, Criminal Minds, House, and the fashion design shows. Oh and HBO's Big Love, I get that on DVD as we do not have HBO. Also really loved Dead Like Me.

Favorite books are mystery or espionage. My former neighbor is an author of SF Fantasy and his books are terrific, his name is Scott Browne and he has several books published. I guess I don't recall a favorite all time book, lots of chemo brain on that one.

I'm really looking forward to seeing The Kings Speech. Perhaps I'll see it this week. I really liked Black Swan, but it is disturbing. Husband and I saw True Grit a few weeks ago and really liked it.

    Hmm
    Favorite movies?
American President and Last of the Mohicans.

    Books

Vampires, Werewolves, Shapeshifters are my weakness. Laurell K Hamilton I love her Anita Blake series as well as the Meredith Gentry series with Fairies.

Also any Murder mystery all of the above with Sue, although Tess Gerritson takes the cake. I can barely wait for new books from her. Kay Hooper, Iris Johanssen, of course the Sookie Stackhouse series. Dan Brown is good too. Man I read entirely too much to choose the favorites. lol

Did I say I love Last of the Mohicans..........Daniel Day Lewis is yummy!

    HBO
Wish we did get HBO. After I watch season 4 of Big Love I'll need to rent Empire Boardwalk from Netflix. It just won an Actor on the SAG awards.

Another movie favorite I have loved for well over 40 years is Easy Rider. And my favorite chic flick, always good for a cry is The Way We Where. Dirty Dancing isn't half bad either.

Guess I'm taking a walk down memory lane.

Avid reader here! Also really enjoy movies. I'm finding it hard to list favorites as there are so many. I recently finished the three books by Stieg Larsson, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest. It took me awhile to jump on the bandwagon of these bestsellers but was glad I did. I can hardly wait for the Hollywood version of the movie due out later this year. It takes awhile to get into the first book but after the first 150 pages it had me. Now just sorry there will be no more as the author passed away shortly after delivering all 3 manuscripts. That's my 2 cents worth. Mary

    Hi Kellie,

I couldn't believe they ended the series with the start of World War 2. No complete ending in episode 4. We might have to wait a year or two. Too long.

    The Girl Who
    HI Mary,

Thanks for the recommendation on the Larsson books, have thought about getting in to them. My son saw all three movies, thought the first was by far the best. I guess he must have seen the foreign versions of the films.

Stay warm and out of snow banks.

    Made it!
I was able to get to and from work yesterday afternoon without eating any snow. It was really slippery driving home at midnight last night. The temperature had dropped to 10 degrees and all of the wet and slushy stuff had froze but I made it, just took a lot longer.

Do try the books. I was hesitant but really ended up liking them. I think only the Swedish movies have been done with subtitles and all. Your son is much braver the I, I'll wait for the Hollywood versions. I did think however that all three books were equally good.Let me know what you think if you do decide to give them a try. Mary

    Sue,

Let me know what you think of this book. I've downloaded it to my Kindle. I'm not sure if it will be my next book or not. I watched an interview with the author on PBS a few weeks ago. Dr. Mukherjee, appeared to be very nice as well as smart!

My aunt is just finishing up reading it and she said it was great and she learned so much. She has been battling breast cancer recurrances for the last 12 years. Seems she falls out of remission like clock work, every 3 years. Anyways...I'm anxious to get it and start reading. Love..Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)
