That's what my husband told me this evening, in a fit of pique. He's sick. He has chills and a little bit of a temp (less than 101). He's achy and miserable. I get that. But he's also whiny. Absurdly whiny. Yesterday, at the onset of his grave illness, he mentioned several times that maybe he should go to the ER. Tonight he said, "I guarantee you, if I went to the ER, they would admit me." Yeah....right. I sort of chuckled and it ticked him off, I guess. That's when he said, "I wish you felt like I do."

I offered to trade maladies with him. That wasn't the right thing to say, either. He snapped, "You know I can't win that argument." Sorry, dear. I have Cancer. Cancer trumps your post-Christmas crud. Get over yourself.

I feel your pain Carlene! No matter how many doctors told my husband he was going to be fine, he was convinced he was at death's door after his bunionectomy went bad. My favorite was when he asked me what was wrong last month, and I confessed that I was scared. He told me to suck it up..."when you're scared my stomach hurts," he said.

    OY!

    Hugs honey!

    feeling ill
    I noticed that I, to a fault, pooh-pooh others complaints. I think it..but I don't always say it...at least its not cancer.

Once my SIL called me to go on and on about how depressed she is. How she walks around crying all the time. OH PLEASE I thought. Finally I got so sick of hearing about it I told her Well, I'll trade with you. She ACTUALLY had the nerve to say she would. Here I am going through one failed chemo after another. PLEASE!

    Pathetic
There is something very wrong with your SIL.....sorry but I can't help it...I had the flu over x-mas and couldn't once complain. I think that's the epitome of insensitivity........when do you start your new chemo?

    thanks!
Thanks for the validation. She has been a topic in my therapy sessions on multiple occasions for various reasons.

I started on Friday. IV Avastin q3wks, oral chemo daily for 3wks, off one week. After 3 cycles I will have a scan.

My stomach aches have really subsided. Maybe it was the chemo. I still feel full after I eat or drink but the pains have lessend. I hate writing that because I dont want to jinks myself!!!

I can't help but agree with
I can't help but agree with your sentiments entirely. I think men are a bit like children and need their ego stroking from time to time.

my husband was at a sales meeting... he was working, but also being wined and dined. I was home recovering from a gemzar/carbo infusion. All I heard on the phone from him was how he was suffering with a cold........ any want to guess what kind of a reply I gave him?

    Hear you
Except I live with my 86-year old mother who has rheumatoid arthritis. She has been in pain for 24 years so I never win that contest.
