2nd Bellybutton Club

Well, I became an inductee to the 2nd bellybutton club at 12:45 PST today. I knew it was going to hurt, but Wow! I certainly hope the folks in the waiting room couldn't hear me holler. The receptionist at the desk gave me a funny look as we were leaving, so I think maybe - just maybe - someone might have heard me.

I thanked my doctor for giving me the best Christmas present ever!

    You'll recieve your secret decoder ring in the mail - as soon as you send in fifty cents and two box tops from your favorite cereal.......... For the time being you'll just have to be satisfied learning the secret hand shake.....

    Great news, congratulations. That is a big milestone, and some pain that you probably were glad to have. (I still can't believe they haven't come up with a better way)

    True story:

    I joined the club the week before Thanksgiving. After a conversation with the Doc as to how things were going to happen, I got into position on the table and the Doc said, and I quote, "Relax. You're going to feel a little pinch". Madonna Mia!! A little pinch? Felt like somebody snapped the world's biggest rubber band right at my belly. But in the end? Glad the darn thing is out.

    Hi Grace, glad to hear it's out. I got tired of tripping over the darned thing everytime I stepped out of the shower. Just to balance things out for people still waiting to have theirs removed, my removal--about two weeks ago--was painless. I felt a slight pressure, and pop, it was out. No pain at any level. The dr/yanker said mine was easy, and I'll take whatever break comes my way.

    2nd bellybutton club, one of the best to belong to for sure. I'm a member of a couple more clubs here, but am in no hurry to join any more. I'm reminded of a quip from Groucho Marx. In his day, fraternal organizations, Elks, Moose, Masons, etc., were very popular. He was asked why it was he didn't belong to any of them. "I'd never belong to any organization that would accept me as a member," he said.

    Welcome to the club. Did your Dr. twist the outer casing to make sure it was ready to be pulled out, before the yanking? Mine did for some 15-20 seconds, and I did feel the 15/16" diameter dome on the way out, but it only lasted a second or two. Just wondering. And, again, welcome to a really cool club to be in.

    Congratulation's! My Dr missed the first tug & sprayed water everywhere. Second tug worked.
    Felt a snap but no pain felt. I was just so relieved to be able to be free again. No more
    bulky sweater's etc.

    easy way
    I hadn't thought about how the tubes were removed. When my husband went through this the first time 3 years ago, he had the tube for a couple of months. Right after his treatment was over, the tube fell out all by itself. He was a little worried at first because he didn't think he could eat enough on his own to keep up. But at least that forced him off real quick and he couldn't continue to lean on the tube like a security blanket.

    But this time, the tube seems to be inserted more securely. I guess that's a good thing since it doesn't look like it will be going away soon if any time at all.

    Congrats and I hope you are able to enjoy some rich, fattening food for Christmas!

    If a picture is worth a 1000 words I would say your drawing is worth 2000, Cancer Sucks that’s for sure, but life after cancer is still good.
