When to expect to be at full strength post hysterectomy

I had a total hysterectomy on Nov. 15th. I tried returning to work last Wednesday, but it proved to be too much for me. Simple tasks such as a trip to the grocery store still makes me very tired.
When can I expect to be back to feeling 100%?

Do you realize that you had a major operation? As common as it seems it is a major operation. Off course, you will be feeling tired it is only three weeks post op. Please rest as much as possible and your own body will let you know when you are ready. Do not push yourself too much just enjoy ever moment of your life. God bless June.

When I had my surgery, my doctor told me a hysterectomy is major surgery and anticipate taking 6 months for a full recovery - I did retire shortly after my surgery and spent the summer recuperating - it probably did take a full 6 months for me to be at full speed - take your time and rest when needed

I am trying to take it easy, but with a 7 year old it is difficult.

You must realize you just had MAJOR SURGERY and it takes time for our bodies to recover. The worst thing any of us can do, is force ourselves when we're not fully healed. Boy do I know that tune -- most of us have so many things to do and no time to rest. I learned after my surgery to take small naps and allow my body to recover at its pace.

I work from home (self-employed) so don't have to worry about my long, stressful hours. In fact, since the surgery (Feb '09) I've cut back on my hours and very part time...value my life and time.

Be kind to yourself body and it will in turn, be kind to you!!!!
