Nexavar Update

edited March 2014 in Liver Cancer #1
My husband was diagnosed with primary liver cancer in October 2009. In January he started taking Nexavar and has been on it off and on since. He had a TACE (transarterial Chemoembolization) in January and again in March. In June after having had another CT scan to check on the tumors the Dr. started talking about the possibilty of having a liver transplant. Back in December when we first met him he told us my husband was not eligible for a transplant due to the number of tumors.
Now one year later he is about to be put on the liver transplant list and will have one soon in Kansas City!!!
We truly believe that without Nexavar, TACE procedures and our positive attitude and support from friends and family we would not be in this postion...

    Transplant/Nexavar
Most definately he can get a transplant. We are waiting for him to go on the list in Kansas City and waiting to go out there...

also on Nexavar, 61 year old male
Hello...just recently joined this board. diagnosed with HCC in August, with very
large mass (18cm) in right lobe of liver, unresectable. Had angiogram for possible TACE,
but found to have too much shunting into lungs etc.

I started Nexavar in Sept, 800 mg ; mri after 8 weeks showed some shrinkage and
the Alpha Feto protein went from 130,000 down to 1100...so am responding well so far.

Sides have run the gamut, from rashes, hair loss, mouth sores, to digestive distress
of all kinds, but have been manageable and endurable so far.

I am hoping for a long term response and downstaging of tumor so other treatment
    options can come into play.

I am looking forward to hearing from others about their experiences with sorafenib
and other chemotherapies available, including clinical trials. thanks.

    Nexavar/TACE
My husband just got listed for a transplant! If it wasn't for the Nexavar and TACE he would not be at this point. Don't give up. For help with the side effects feel free to email direct slg72@aol.com... Best of Luck!
