Lymph Node Biopsy Questions...

Hi, I've posted once before. I'm not diagnosed but have had swollen lymph nodes, night drenches and random illnesses for over a year now. I finally saw a doctor who would like to do a lymph node biopsy in my neck and am quite relieved. Can anyone share their experience with this procedure? Were you put out, was it just general anesthesia? Easy? Hard? Please share, thanks!

    Hi,
    I originally had a fine needle biopsy and a core biopsy of a groin lymph node. Local anesthetic was used and I thought it was a piece of cake. Even after - a little ice and I was fine. Good luck - hope your biopsy comes back as benign!!

    I had my cervical biopsy in
    I had my cervical biopsy in 1995, so it may be different now. At that time, I had general anesthesia for a short stay procedure. Very easy and no recovery time was needed.

    Hi Charlie,
    I had a fairly large size node removed from my groin and it was an easy breezy out-patient procedure. I went in at 10:00a.m. and was back home before 1:00 p.m. I was put under and didn't feel a thing and was just a tad bit sore for the first day or two. You will be fine.     Charlie,

    After my original biopsy I had the lymph node removed from my groin and they did mine with twilight gas, where you aren't totally under but you don't know what's going on. Not bad at all, minimal discomfort the next day. After that I was fine- no problems. Good luck!

    I had one taken from my neck
    I had mine done February 9th this year. The procedure was very easy, but it did leave a nasty looking scar on my neck. The scar is slooooowly fading but other than that it was pretty uneventful. I was sore for about a week but they will give you painkillers to take care of that. Just make sure if they use glue to stitch it up they have experience lol. Good Luck and God Bless!

    Hi Charlie,

    My diagnosis began with the removal of a lump from the base of my neck, on top of my right cervical in July, 2010. It was a general anesthesia process, but was outpatient, of course. They took out a golf ball size of congealed nodes. (I requested and received a picture of the mass. Cool.) Easiest surgery I've ever had. My wife and I went out for dinner before we even got home that day and it never even felt sore after that. No worries.

    When is your biopsy scheduled? Do you know yet what method they are going to use? If you have a choice, go for the most anesthesia.

    The symptoms you describe could be many things, I suppose, but please come back and let us know what happens.

    I appreciate everyone's input on this, sounds like doctors may do it differently but it's nothing to stress over. I will definitely keep you guys posted on this, the Dr wants to do it before Christmas so I will have an answer soon.
