Oh, I guess I did it right. Still learning this computer stuff. Haven't been to class in 5-6 weeks because of this horrible thing called CANCER. Hoping things will start to turn around and get back to whatever will be my normal life from now on. Totally lost and scared a lot of the time but I still have room in my heart to help anyone who is in need. I can't say thank you enough times to this board and chat room for keeping me up.

Hi to all you wonderful people. I had a big surprise after my mammo. Found out I had breast cancer (right side). Told me it was small and could have either mast. or lump. I chose lump. and radiation. That was Aug. 3rd. Just finished my rad. on Mon. the 8th. Wasn't to bad until the middle of the 33 days. I had burning and redness but could take it. Then the last Friday I was sick,fatigued,over all yucky. Had low grade fever through out it all but still have it. Doc is doing some blood work and will know in the morning when I see surgeon for follow-up visit. Finally got a RX for the burn and some infection had to be cleared up. Still not clear but feels some what better. Doc told me it would no problem and I would be up and around in a few days. Well was he wrong. I thought I was dying. Felt alone and didn't know how or why I got this dreaded thing. Still trying to understand it all. Never in a million years did I even think about cancer. I am just so happy that they got it all and the nodes were clear. He took 9 to be safe. No history in my family, by the way. It just chose me.
I found this board and chat room a couple weeks ago and feel like I have friends and people who care. It is only me and my husband though out this whole ordeal. My 2 daughters say it was small and no big deal. Never came to surgery nor have they come to visit. I talked with them on Tues. to let them know how I was feeling.... alone and lost. They said I would get over it. Don't know what happened as we were pretty close or so I thought.
Any way enough feeling bad for me. I did get through it and when they find out why I am so sick I will be on my way to a new normal ME.
Thank you for asking about me and listening. I can ramble and go on forever. So I better stop for now.

Diana -your diagnosis sounds JUST like my mom's - it was weird how this happened but in the middle of my chemo treatments, my mom got a letter from radiology to come in for a follow up after her annual mammogram. There was a spot that looked different from last year's (thank God mom has hers faithfully every year). I took her to the follow up appt and the biopsy that they recommended a few days later & was holding her hand when my SAME surgeon told my mom she had breast cancer also. We also have NO family history -just the 2 of us. She had a tiny tumor, less than half a centimeter, but 1 of her lymph nodes was positive for cancer, so she had to have chemo. She's halfway thru chemo, and will also have radiation when she's done. Although mom & i most likely have a genetic similarity in our cancers (how weird is that for mother & daughter to be the first in the family to be diagnosed, and within months of each other?? I STILL can't wrap my head around that...), mine was completely different. My tumor was almost 2.5 cm, with no lymph nodes involved. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy and 6 rounds of chemo, and will be on tamoxifen for 5 years.
I'm too working on being on my way to a new normal me, I'll come with you
