My son has high grade myxofibrosarcoma stage 3 on his left thigh. It grew through chemo and radiation, he is scheduled to have his left leg amputated on September 22 2010.

So sorry to read about your son's pending operation. When the growth was first observed, did they consider removal of the growth with clean margins? Earlier this year, I had two operations, one to remove what they thought was a harmless lipoma, and a second operation to remove the sarcoma. I then had 35 radiation treatments and am keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't reappear. Mine was also on my left thigh. I've heard that chemo doesn't treat this type of cancer. How old is your son? I will pray for him on Wednesday.

This all started in 2/2010, the mass was to big for surgery. Frank is 43. He had 3 rounds of chemo and it grew, waited 3 weeks then had 24 radiation treatments and it grew. The mass is the size of a watermelon, very large. Thank you for your prayers.

Thinking of you and your son
Do hope Frank is resting comfortably after his operation today. I know this is a difficult time for both of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Keep me posted on his progress. Where are you located? I'm in Massachusetts.

My son had the surgery to amputee his left leg. He had 5 sets of doctors work on him and the surgery lasted over 8 hours. He is doing well and is now in rehab and the PT has to tell him not to do so much. We are in New Jersey.

    Hi Bud,

So glad to hear that Frank is doing well after his operation. I know that he has a difficult road ahead, but I'm sure that with all he's been through, that he is stronger now, than ever before. Tell him that I'm praying for a speedy recovery, and tell him not to do too much. It will take time for his body to heal.
