    Grand Canyon
    I've spent the last 20 years backpacking and river rafting this amazing place. When people ask me where I'm from I tell them "Grand Canyon". I really consider it home. My heart stays there while I'm out of it doing what must be done. It would be such a great place for Survivor. It's almost time to go back now.

    So ready for that tropical paradise right now! I gotta figure out how to get myself a pampered spa weekend at the very least. I don't like to go places by myself, but maybe I might have to grow up and do it. :)

    Hi Sweet
    I know the feeling; I don’t like even going out to eat by myself, just hate being alone. The wife now calls me just about every day at work to see what I am doing for lunch just to make sure I am eating. I guess we need to brake out of the box, just no fun all by your self.

    Believe it or not my Son and I are planning to do some skydiving; we are just trying to find a plane to hold 20 men. It will be a great feeling I believe to just fly. It will be Him and me and 18 others that it will take to throw me out of the plane, but it is in the planes for the future

    I hope that you and your son have a great time when you do go and jump out of a perfectly good operating plane. No Sir, no my cup of tea thank you. Next, you'll be telling me that you bought one of those special flying squirrel suits, jumped out of a plane and flew close to the mountain tops at 120 mph. : )

    I'll keep my feet planted firmly on the ground thanks. Now, if you happen to know someone with a spare plane ticket to New Zealand or Ireland, I'm there : )

    I'm used to eating out by myself, and going out by myself, but I don't want to travel alone. I love it when I go out to eat and they ask. "How many?". And I say, "one". Then they give you that aw, I'm sorry you're pathetic look and stick you in the tiny table in the corner that rocks cause it's not level.

    I'd want to be somewhere with a mild climate, eating vegetarian, I guess - the first spider dinner they whipped out would have me packing. I'd like the idea of figuring out how to make a shelter, but would not want to eat squirmy, scary things.

    That is great, we forget sometimes our caregivers, I am sending my wife caregiver home for her Mothers birthday that is what she wants. Now she is afraid of leaving me for a few weeks, I told her I am a big boy now and plus my 32 year old daughter who thinks she is my Mother will take very good care of me while you are gone.

    I was just talking to my wife tonight about this as I drew her a bath and poured her a glass of wine and almost shorted out her Kindle.

    The Caregiver can sometimes be left out or kept behind the scenes. (human nature I guess)My wife was telling me she does not quite know where she fits in at the moment. her kids are both away at school and doing fine on their own. The only time they need her is when they need $$$$'s. She says she does not feel like much of wife or a partner to me because I am too sick to do anything, and I mean anything!! My wife is a nurse by trade which means I have an advantage to receiving some types of care at home which I am sure other survivors do not. The down side to this is she is in charge of the Trauma Program at a very busy Level 1 Trauma Center and spends her working time involved directly with death every day, and not to mention all of the kids she sees every day who are so sick from Cancer.

    I surprised her last Saturday with a complete day spa package so she could feel like she had some "me time." One might this week I plan to send her and one of her close girl friends out to one of the best resturants in St. Louis, so she can have a little "me time" and reconnect with a friend.

    I am amazed at the amount of time she spends with me, and the level of care she gives, even if it is just bringing me a glass of water. She makes my care all about me and only me. The amazing thing about the caregiver is one does not have to have advanced medical training to be of value. At the end of the day for me, it is all of the little things she brings to the table.

    I have read allot of posts where the caregiver goes way above and beyond the call of duty.

    Before we all try, and I man try to go to bed tonight, tell your caregiver thank you and you love them.

    Hi Mike

    Beautiful port about your caregiver Mike. My Wife and caregiver has been at my side through all my treatments day & night for over 9 years now and have never left my side. She wants to go to see her Mother for her 90 birthday next month, so I got her the ticket and now she don’t want to go because she feels she needs to be with me. I told her don’t worry I will be OK plus my oldest daughter is worse then a Mother for making sure I am ok. Looks like the only way I will get her to go is to go with her, we will see
