ACS in my area is selling the most adorable shirts. They have a fleur de lis and say "Fight Dat." I ordered them for my sisters and, of course, one for me. I can support my beloved Saints (Who Dat team) and cancer at the same time. I love it!

I am not at all sure where it started, but many years ago Saints fans began to chant "Who dat say they gonna beat dem Saints?" and all Saints fans became known as "who dats." The grammar made me cringe for awhile, but, hey, it's football!

The whole area is now called the "who dat nation." Of course, a fleur de lis is mandatory as that represents not only the Saints but our culture and rebirth/resilience.

So maybe now we can also be the "fight dat nation" and wipe cancer off the face of the earth! :-)

FYI, the tangipahoa ACS is selling the shirts online at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=22790 The shirt shown is black gold and purple, but they also sell a black and gold (Saints colors) and a tank in green and pink.

    Yes!
Hey Brett Favre grew up about 30 min (Kiln, Ms) from where I live so we cheer him too. Not to mention those Manning boys who came from N.O.! See my post below about how to get the shirts online.

CC .. Thank you for sharing the internet site ... I'll locate
it -- Black, gold and purple sounds like a winner for me. I strut around on Sundays with my football jersey's .. its funny to others, but so normal for me ..

Getting back to 'Normal' this football season -

Thank you for the explanation of the Dat Nation! I can see it would be a very popular item, indeed! I just have such a resistance to football, not sure exactly why! I am glad that the ACS is smarter than I am, and has tapped into a potentially large market!:-)

My Siobhan is a Brett Farve fan~ last Christmas I orderd her a jersey which is called a
Pac-Vik Jersey. It is half Green Bay, half Minnesota, perfectly matched up and sewed together as one complete jersey! With the number 4! Need I say she loved it?? LOL

Reggie bought me a LiveStrong jersey yesterday~ I am doing the LiveStrong Challenge on Septmember 25 ( well, the 10K part of it, at least!) so that's what I will be wearing!

As they say, it's all good! We contribute and support where and when we can~ there is a venue for each of us it seems!

I do believe I am in the minority here! You are probably surrounded by football fans jonesing for the season to start. I just can't stand anything about it, not that I know much! It just is soooo noisy, takes FOREVER, and well, I just don't get it! LOL

I encourage my Reggie to go someone else's house or find a sports bar for the games. Poor guy~when he watches football here at home with me, I know it is no fun for him at all~ I rarely even look up at the TV, and if I do I don't know any of the players, or the teams, and have no idea of the rules or terminology. Reggie tries to WOOT WOOT~ but I have no feedback or opinion, as I don't even know why anyone is doing anything, so I feel bad for Reggie! But not bad enough to watch though! It evens itself out~ I am a rabid NY Yankee fan and watch baseball while Reggie wonders why! LOL And, as I always say...for all of it, it's really all only a game~not important in the grander scheme of things! Just grown men playing kid stuff for big money! HAHAHA! We should all be so lucky! :-)

So sports fans~ enjoy the season!

    FOOTBALL SEASON! YESSSSSSSSSSS
I love football, and obviously, my hubby does. Sometimes we go to some friends house and we all take something to eat and just kick back and watch the game and just have fun. It makes for a great Sunday afternoon with friends.

Or, sometimes, we just stay at home and snuggle up on the couch together, and, just enjoy the game together..just the two of us.

Then, we can make our own half time entertainment. ( wink wink)

I have always loved just being with my husband, even if it was something I didn't like, I would love it just because I am with him!

Maybe, part of the reason I love football is because I was a cheerleader in high school and in college. I just love the game. I find it so exciting, so interesting, with so much action going on!

So, for all of us football fans - Let the games begin!

I going into a semi- mild depression right about February 15th
of each year .. Football - gotta love it ..

I too was just like Chenheart 4 short years ago, until I got into a terrrible car accident, just about lost the use of my left arm - several surgeries had me laid up - this all happened about December 10th .. Football play off season began, I was so sick and tired of seeing Football games on every TV channel known to man, Saturday - Sunday, mid week (We didn't have a TIVO or DVR back then) .. so there I laid .. watching Football frustration and confusion turned into interest, my poor husband suddenly sat next to me explaining the plays - I did'nt quiet seem to get it .. why the pushing, shoving, hitting and running .. flash foward several weeks and I was starting to enjoy the games .. now I am a avid Football **** - If I can catch 4 or 5 games on Sunday, I will my husband is now a Football widow ..he enjoys watching 1 game .. not enough for me - I need to see them all. I enjoy knowing the players, stats and history .. I so enjoy the boys on Channel 11 - Fox pre-game show vs the CBS guys!

I grew up as a Dodger Fan, now the game is too slow for me .. Sorry you baseball fans! I do follow 1 - team and have for years .. The NEW YORK YANKEE'S- Love those boys!

Chenheart .. next time Reggie is watching .. Here are a few phases to get his attention :-)

"Why are they punting the football?"
    "What's wrong with that Linebacker"
I don't believe that call the Offensive Coach made ..!

Please make sure you are in a safe place, book in hand - as Reggie starts to explain the A,B,C's of football .. smile occasional, or nod. When Reggie stops to take a breath of air .. make your escape .. for another area of your home,or tell him you think you hear your cell phone ringing in another room -- otherwise you will get a 3 hour
inside view of the game - from a Professional Football Watcher.

Can't wait until Thursday, night ..

Chen, Danny and I never watched football either, but Katrina changed our hearts.

Drew Brees and the Saints have been so supportive and involved in the community. You just gotta love em. Especially the photo of Drew Brees holding his baby after he won the Super Bowl. Loved that the baby had on ear muffs and he is too cute!

Anyway, now we're hooked and have even been watching the preseason games. But we're ready for the real deal. Bring it on and Fight Dat!

P.S. It is the "Who Dat Nation" not the "Dat Nation" but I love your enthusiasm ;-)

Football **** - and I know it! Vicki Sam

Reggie and I have so much "quality time" together, that it is just never going to happen that I am going to start watching football with him! I of course LOVED the movie The Blind Side, and have watched it a dozen times, but not because of football! We even went to Lake Tahoe for SuperBowl Sunday...tickets to some big screening and a huge buffet~ I got the buffet and took my plate up to my room to watch a documentary about Civil Rights on PBS!
Reggie, his brother and a friend of ours brought their plates up to the room~ hooted and hollered while watching the game in the livingroom of the suite while I was in the bedroom as I said, watching something else! I do host SuperBowl parties here at the house~ I love cooking and serving, and having a houseful! So that works out perfectly~ Reggie gets a group of football lovers, and I get to cook and talk and laugh and not even see a second of the game because I am "busy"! It is a perfct arrangement! LOL

My sister and I are the Yankee fans~ I flew up to Northern Calif so she and I could drive to Oakland to watch the play...Reggie could not have been any less interested! Wesaw the Yankees turn triple play ( 1st one since 1968!) and my brother was in NY and saw A-Rod hit number 600! Now, that's what I'm talking about! LOL

Each of us is happy~ each of us is watching the game of our choice, and, as they say , "it's all good"!

And oh yeah...I was a cheerleader too~ even that didn't make me like the game! LOL

Push em back, push em back....waaaaaay back!

Well even I know about Drew Brees and his son...I think his wife is pregnant with another son, isn't she? I love the enthusiasm, the community spirit and the help to New Orleans that the Saints can bring. It is just wonderful! I though, can get all of that info watching the news, or Good Morning America! Ok ... so I watched 3 College Football games on Saturday
while nursing a sore left ankle -- another side effort from chemo. I actually tried to garden in the 103 degree temp's out here in Southern California .. twisted or pulled something in my ankle .. need to see the doctor, again.

I can not wait until Thursday night .. Football Forever, or until February 6th.

My Siobhan is devasated~ she goes to culinary school and works as a chef at the college gourmet restaurant 2 nights a week as part of her curriculum. Of course the two nights she goes to school and works are THURSDAYS and Fridays! Most days she is out of school by 3 PM~ but on those 2 nights of the week, she works from 3PM until 9PM. She loves Brett Farve, so she is trying not to think about what she will be missing...I understand from those in the know that the Saints are favored, that they have virtually the same team as they did last year~ and the Vikings don't.
