    Gone fast??? Really?
That is excellent. Your attitude and what ever is going on around you must be incredible. We found the last week to move in slow motion.
Hope your recovery is as speedy!
    Way to go!

Thank you everyone for your positive comments. It has made my day much easier. Chemo complete, just need to wait 4 more days for my 5FU to run out and I'm DONE!

    5FU Pump
I know you can't wait to get rid of that thing... I couldn't stand having that strapped to me...seemed like I couldn't fight on my own with that pumping into me every 30 seconds. Plus it always seemed to have an odor emitting from me with that going into me....

Best to you, and I know you'll be glad to get rid of it come Friday morning....

John, that is great news. Now onto complete recovery so you can get your life back. This is very inspitational for me as I start my radiation on Sept. 8th and Chemo on the 13th.

I will be thinking of you.
You are a tough guy and kick the sh%$# out of the beast within.

    A Celebration's in Order
I can't tell you how happy I was when they unhooked that pump for the last time - and you're almost there. I wanted to hug the delivery man who came to pick up the little machine and take it away. No more muffled "camera clicks", reminding me that I had given my approval for poison to be pumped into my body. So tomorrow, you can say "this is the last Wednesday I'll have the pump" - see, it's a party every day.

Thank you all for your support it has meant a great deal to me, I cherish your comments and take everything to heart. Today is my first day of my recovery after being disconnected from 5HU yesterday. I feel good, I'm ready to take on the world. I'm not celebrating yet as I am awaiting my two week CT scan coming up soon. Once I get those results I will be back here cheering with good news. I am a skeptic but my doc's have had nothing but good news so far, they can't see it with their instruments nor can they feel the mass with their fingers anymore. So I am keeping positive thoughts....think positive thoughts...

    Best to you all!

    New milestone today, this is
New milestone today, this is my second day not using my feeding tube. I'm on my ensure diet so I am taking all calories through the mouth now. I hate the taste, but it's moving forward and I'm sucking it up. I take it like a shot of tequila, take it all down at once to get it over...I chug it like a beer.

It's just a great feeling to get off of that crutch, the feeding tube. I still rinse it but I don't use it for my diet.

    Beer
    Hey John,

Do you like beer? I do and wanted to give you some words of encouragement. I had a 6-pack of beer yesterday. Kinda like hydrocodone. When you see that you can at least keep your weight steady, get that tube yanked.

    Best,
    Steve

    Ensure...
Congratulations on your 2nd day of not using your feeding tube!!! Ensure plus was a godsend for me when I was trying to gain weight. Didn't like the taste but if it is ice cold and you drink it fast before it has a chance to warm up at all then it is doable. I tried flavoring the vanilla but you could still taste the original flavor so I just "sucked it up" and forced myself to drink it.

Hopefully you will soon be eating (and tasting) more foods each week and will be able to cut back on the Ensure.

    Stay strong,
    Glenna

I actually have a hard time
I actually have a hard time drinking really cold stuff, hurts for some reason. I drink it at room temp so I'm probably making it worse that it is lol. Thanks for your words of support they mean a lot :)

    Good for you!
It took me over four month's to stop using the feeding tube so you are doing great!I was very sensitive to everything that was cold at first also. Hurt my throat! Then I tried again later on. Now if I am having a not feel like eating day I have my ensure chilled & on ice. Miss my odd beer, tastes like crap to me. Keep up the great progress!

    Congradulations
I remember how good it felt as I approached and then received my last treatment. When I was in the middle of my six weeks (I know this is short for many of you), I was so jealous when some of my peers were ending their sessions. Then in no time at all, it was my turn to stop showing up every day. Rick.

    Ensure and Beer
    LOL, not in that order....

I only liked the Strawberry when I was drinking the Ensure....

As for beer, I like the imports as well...especially the unfiltered wheats..like, Hoegaarden and Hefeweizen. Plus, like you don't have to drink them ice cold.

    Best,
    John
