Remember you two had similar issue, some sort of tissue or growth coming out of stomach area at PEG tube. Saw my doc today, who said it is (something I don't remember) "mucosa". Said this happens sometimes, and is not a concern. He said when I get my PEG removed (next week), it should go away, if not, they'll cauterize it.

    PEG..
Pam, Thanks for the update. I am glad that it is probably no big deal then. I swear I thought my stomach was trying to come out of the hole. It seems there is a little more now than before but I am cleaning it with peroxide and using triple antibiotic ointment and keeping it covered because of the drainage. I still don't like the idea of the greenish color of the drainage but I see my gastro in 2 weeks so I will just ride it out till then. I will be envious of you having yours removed but it is a great step in the right direction. My son says each thing I get removed is a step..trache, PEG, Port...lol. Thank you again for your help.

Thanks Pam and Debbie, I just saw the doc that put in my PEG yesterday (I've had it about 6 months) and he said it was! a polyp-like bit of my stomach extruding . . . but normal and no big. But as Debbie says, I don't really want a bit of my insides showing itself. Mine was aggravated because my incision is right between two abdominal muscles and the oblong bumper (the inch to inch and a quarter piece of soft plastic that keeps the tube anchored) kept working its way into a horizontal position, just over my extrusion, keeping it painful and raw.
So, I had tried using adhesive (paper type) tape to anchor it top and bottom, so it couldn't swivel. He showed me a better way to allow air. I take a layer of the gauze bandage (has a slit in it) and slide it under both top and bottom sections of the bumber, then put a regular larger gauze over the entry area. That keeps it a little air circulation and stops the piece from settling in the seam.
He said if it was real bad he could silver nitrate--sometimes used to cure inner mouth sores, burns them off)--to remove it, but he would have to order the silver nitrate. I'll try it this way first.
    thanks for the posts, Hal

    Thanks Pam
Thanks for the info Pam. Some guys dream of a sexy-voiced woman whispering to them. I just wish I'd hear those words from my doc...."your peg is coming out next week".

    Hah, Greg
Funny you should mention that, Greg. when the doc put my PEG in, he was a skinny, awkward, pointy nosed guy. Today when we were talking about the PEG coming out, I noticed he has very nice eyes.

    Thank you
I just noticed the same thing. I see the doc's tommorow. You just gave me one less thing to worry about.

    Peg
I have haD my peg for ever and a day now as most of you know. I have had that same red tissue around mine my doc said she could either take care of it in one fell swoop but it would hurt or I could apply a steroid cream and it would go away in about a week. I did the cream for a week and it worked.

    Steroid cream
Hi Sweet, was the cream an rx or over-the-counter? Could you tell us the name of it, if you still have it, or remember. Thanks for the info and I hope you are doing well.
