BMB back on for tomorrow...

Boy oh boy...after living with my hubby for 32 years I thought I knew all there was to know about him.(WRONG)... Steve is a "very" quiet layed back kind of guy and rarely shows emotion or gets vocally up-set. He called at noon today and I told him about the mess up at the clinic and insurance co and the postponement of the BMB. He very quietly said "I gotta go honey, I'll see you at home, and in the meantime you just stay calm". About 2 hours later I got a call from the clinic saying they got the authorization for the BMB and said I was back on for tomorrow. To make a long story short, my hubby apparantly hung up from talking with me at noon and immediately made 3 phone calls...1.Union rep..2.Group Health..3.the cancer clinic. All he said to me when he got home from work was..."this is one time in your life no-one is going to screw with you.... not now or ever again". As usual, being the quiet guy he is, he didn't elaborate on what he did or said to make things happen, but the look in his eyes made a believer out of me. Me thinks he made believers out of a few others also...Yikes! I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. Gotta go give that man a "smooch a roonie". Score one for hubby!..ha!

    YES SIR
Thats what I'm talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats good your husband got on the phone to get things going the way that he did. Its great for you that you won't have to wait that extra time. 3 days is like an eternity when we are waiting to get to the answer we want to find out.

Thanks John...Yes...waiting has been the hardest part so far. I'm trying to stay calm and peaceful today, but man oh man I "really" hate needles! My stomach keeps doing flip flops and I almost threw my coffee up a little bit ago. 4 1/2 more hours to go....UGH! Hope you have a good day...Sue

    FLIP FLOP FEELINGS
Sue, you are going to feel that way every time at first because you will not know what to expect. It will get a little easier after a few visits. You will feel a little edgy before each visit regardless. Hang in there and ask the Dr. what do they think they will find in the bmb. They have the experience to know what to expect. John

    What to expect...
Hi John...I did ask my doctor..(today) if she expects to find cancer in my bone/marrow and she said "I will not be surprised if it is". She also said what one of you told me...she will treat it right along with the other areas affected and it's just one more process to add to the mix. She said the reason my bone is so hard and dry is because of my taking HRT therapy since 1989..20 yrs on Premerin. I had a full hystrectomy at that time when I was 38. She said I should of gone off of it long before now...(10 years ago) I'm almost weened off of it and just take 3 pills this week...2 pills next week and then I'll be down to the last pill and I'll be done with it. I've been having hot flashes and a few moody moments, but nothing so intense that I can't handle it. Wish I had done this before I was diagnosed with this cancer because now my mental state is less stable and dealing with all the menopause crap is just one more thing to add to the stress. Oh well...I will work through it and hopefully after everything is said and done I will come out on the good end of the stick...God willing! Hip is beginning to hurt so I better take a tylenol 3. Waste of time, but maybe I can fool myself into thinking it will help...ha!

    Menopause
I can relate to this. Chemo and radiation put me into menopause at 42. My onc got so tired of my complaining his office was so hot and the air wasn't moving he put me on Effexor XR. It's an anti-depressant, anti anxiety drug that also reduces hot flashes by 60% (they actually did a study on it) and I cannot tell you how much that has helped with everything. Talk to your doc about it, you never know it may help with all of it.

    Thanks dixiegirl
I wrote that down about Effexor. If my hot flashes get too nasty I'll ask my doctor about taking it. I think my oldest sister takes it...I'll ask her how it works for her..she's 63. Take care....Sue
