I am glad to find this discussion board. Please I need help with this urge feeling to go the normal way after colostomy. I was dx December 2009 with stage 3 rectal cancer. finished Chemo/rediation by March 3 and surgery just 4 weeks ago. I was sewn shot and right now trying to get use to my colostomy but, some times it is so hard due to the urge feeling to go the normal way. Has anyone had this feeling before and how long does it last? Will it ever go away? if not, does anyone please know what I should do. Thanks.

    Hi
    Hi Lucky--

I wish I could help you here, but I don't have a colostomy, so I'm unable to give you any advice. I just wanted to welcome you and hope that someone on this board can give you some information.

    HI Lucky
Colostomy for anal cancer is not the norm. You would probably get more/better information from the members of the colorectal board. There are many there who would be able to share their wealth of knowledge on this subject. Good luck to you and stay in touch.

    Regards,
    Joanne

Thank you for replying my post. Sorry to hear that you are going through the same thing sometimes. I guess I have to learn to live with the urge feeling. I was hoping that at some point it will get better, but at what point would that be?

Please, how do I get to the colonrectal discussion board?

When you get to the page where
it says Discussion Boards at the top, instead of clicking on Anal Cancer, just look six spaces lower and you will see Colorectal Cancer listed. Just click on it and it will take you there. Same format at this one. Lots of really nice people there.
